I'm in scientific publishing for work and I travel a lot for that but I love to travel for personal reasons as well. I have two cats who keep each other company when I'm gone (though I do miss them!) and I like cook, drink wine, run, do Pilates, knit, watch tv, and read. I'm trying to learn Spanish. I've also recently started teaching English as a second language as a volunteer at a local school for immigrants. It has made me want to travel even more!

I like solo travel and I would prefer to meet local people. I enjoy doing my own thing for some of the trip, but it's definitely great to have someone to talk to who can really give me a flavor for the place!

I was on a boat among a super-pod of bottle nosed dolphins between the North and South Islands of New Zealand. We were close enough to touch them if we had wanted to. They had their babies, and the males were doing flips trying to impress the females.
