About Me

Hey there! I'm Kerem and I'm a second year, film production student in UBC! I'm originally from Istanbul, Turkey, a gorgeous city that I'm very proud of to be a habitant of. I love traveling and exploring new places. Yet, my idea of traveling is not the neurotypical one. I've never been fond of trying to see all the landmarks in under one day just to make the money's worth. Rather, I like to take traveling in a more slow social approach. I love going to little shops and cafés, meeting people, learning more about how life is there, and maybe even hit up some pubs at night. I consider myself an extrovert, and I love talking to (and of course listening to) people and make friends from all around the world! I'm usually very silly and down to have some simple fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to enhance my travel experience. I love making new friends around the world, and I believe that getting to know a local is the best way to discover a place. Also getting to have a drinking buddy wherever I go could be fun!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Music:
Obsessed with anything 70's/80's, dont wanna sound stereotypical but I do feel I was born in the wrong era. As for favorite bands, I am stuck between Queen and Florence + The Machine. I'm drawn to strong vocals and very dramatic, often orchestral, music. But I usually find bits and pieces I love from every genre.

Favorite Books:
Unfortunately, I'm not an avid reader, but a short list would include Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and 1984 by George Orwell.

Favourite Movies:
I feel like as a film major this is a trap question. I have several favorite films which I could name but one of my long time favorites would be Big Fish by Tim Burton. It was the earliest film I remember watching and being amazed by. I still watch it once every year and it's the reason I wanted to be a filmmaker ever since I was a kid.
