About Me
Hello there, I'm Kerrin! About nine years ago Raoul (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/raoul_k) and I left our lives in our hometown of Hamburg, Germany behind and started an open-ended journey. Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, Sri Lanka and Mexico are a few of my absolute favourites from this trip, but there have been so many awesome places that I would love to go back to one day, and countless wonderful memories made.
2020 got us stuck in B.C. and by the time we would have been able to travel again, we had made a home for ourselves in a beautiful community in the Shuswap - for now, we're sticking around.
Our home is small and offers little privacy, but if we are able to host you, we are happy to put down a mattress in our living room, share some food and stories, and spend time sightseeing and exploring the region together.
We welcome all genders, races, religions, and sexualities. We do not welcome people who don't.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because everytime I pluck up the courage to talk to a stranger I've been shown time and time again that it's the most rewarding thing one can do. You meet people that you will call close friends and there will be those where it doesn't click, but I cherish those encounters as much as the others. I feel like we spend way too much time with people that think just like us, but only when we take the time to get to know people who are nothing like ourselves, we actually get a chance to reflect and to grow. So I hope to keep meeting people from every walk of life in the future and keep expanding my horizons!
Interests
Apart from traveling, I like to fill my life and head with lots of people and all the stories they have to tell, good vegetarian food, preferably lots of it and shared with friends and/or strangers, big art museums, the theater, animals of all sorts, long day hikes that I'm usually not as well prepared for as I should be and as many books as I can.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I love listening to Sylvan Esso, Sudan Archives, Made in Heights, Moderat, Young Fathers, CVRCHES, FKJ, some good lo-fi for studying and 60s music on Sundays. And I may or may not know the entire Les Miserables soundtrack by heart...
Movies: Some of my all time favourites are Victoria, Coraline, and Little Miss Sunshine.
Books: Reading has to be one of my greatest passions and I try to do it as much as I can. Recently I've been into stories from the Caribbean, like those of Leone Ross and Breanne Mc Ivor - exceptional and wonderful writers!
Robin Wall Kimmerer has opened my eyes to Indigenous narratives and nature writing.
I am currently reading Jane Eyre, always some Terry Pratchett novel and just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After traveling full-time for five years, I decided to go back to school and try something completely new. It was a tough decision and I'm thrilled to be doing it!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning about pretty much everything and anything and even though half of the time I don't actually memorize it for more than a day, I try to do it as much as I can. And I hope to be sharing and exchanging lots of different opinions, lessons and just worldviews in general on the way.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Meals that go along with long conversations and hopefully also some time beyond that. And given that the kitchen allows it and there's some flour around, I'd love to bake you a cake or two and maybe also a batch of cookies! :)
