ABOUT ME

Hello there! :) I'm an Irish/Aussie girl who caught cabin fever and then the travel bug - they are highly contagious and highly prized maladies. I was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but have lived in Perth, Western Australia most of my life. I have also lived in South Africa as a child, and I've studied on exchange in Vermont, USA.

I recently moved from Perth to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to be with my husband. We met when he was on exchange in Western Australia, and we went through many trials and tribulations in order to get a Fiancée Visa for me to live in the US with him. All I can say is, thank God for Skype!

I am undiscriminating in my search for adventure abroad: I enjoy discovering the newness of everyday life in a foreign country, just as I enjoy going on trips into the wilderness or getting totally lost in a strange land. Adventure is all about seeing the opportunities in your daily life. I believe that there is magic in reality, and adventure in the everyday, if only you look for it. I have a fun attitude to life. Laughter is a universal language, and it's one that I speak frequently.

PHILOSOPHY

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is." - Albert Einstein... I appreciate the magic in "everyday" life: I do not negate the little things, ever. I am wanderlust with this dreamscape that we call life. I love quickly and completely. I cannot exist without other people in my life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with my husband and his parents and sister. We don't have a couch to loan at the moment, but we hopefully will when we find our own place. I'd be happy to go on outings with any travellers or locals though. See the world as locals do!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I guess I'm a newbie here, but maybe you can help me out with that. I've couch-surfed just once before and had a real blast making new friends. Who knows, we may be an unstoppable duo! :) I don't think couch-surfing with relatives quite cuts it as 'couch-surfing' per se, but I have done that before.

Books are hard to list here - there is not enough room. My all-time favourites would have to be Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, and The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I also really liked The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but maybe I shouldn't openly admit to that. ;)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Skydiving over Jurien Bay in Western Australia in 2010. The feeling of free-falling is something unparalleled. Now I know why we humans have always wanted to fly and soar, and it is a noble pursuit, if only for that feeling... Also, moving to America has been a pretty amazing experience. :)

I have a degree in English Literature and French from the University of Western Australia. I would be happy to help by tutoring in English - I currently volunteer as the Creative Writing Tutor at Working Classroom, a not-for-profit organisation in Albuquerque which helps marginalised young people. I'm good at cooking (gluten-free meals, salads and healthy dishes mainly), if you're up for trying that too. :)
