About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to travel and live in a variety of locations and cultures while doing meaningful and enjoyable work.

ABOUT ME

I grew up and went to school in Michigan with my main goal to leave and explore the world when I graduated. I followed that goal with a job for an oil company in Texas, then realized my best bet to move to another city again was to go back to graduate school, which I did in Seattle. I then spent a year in Malaysia, and am now ready to explore the Netherlands. Outside of trying to regularly move, I tend to go for a lot of runs, walks, and bike rides. I've done four marathons although I think I'll stick to half marathons in the future.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to enjoy every day and find something new to explore or do. I also believe in helping others to live better lives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to this, but love meeting people, going to the most interesting bar in the city and discussing the things that make life different and interesting

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been able to crash on couches of friends in major cities and across the world. The most exciting thus far was my trip to Shanghai. The couch was far from the city center and required a 15 minute cab ride to the end of the subway to catch it into town. Every morning after my friend left for work, I tried to go into town and I hoped I said the word for subway correctly to the cab driver as he sped off towards the station.

Interests

I enjoy running, biking, and walking. I usually start each day with a run. I try to bike around the city rather than drive. I do enjoy hikes in nature, but tend to prefer the city. I enjoy art museums and galleries, as well as public art displays and graffiti, especially when it is hidden. I also love going to see live music of all varieties, regardless of if it is good or bad.
