Overview
About Me
My name is Kevin, and I am a 20-something finding his way in Seattle. I studied full time during my first 2 years living here, and have since decided to take an indefinite break to travel and discover what life has to offer before committing to a definite career path.
I have spent the last year working as a barista and coffee director full-time, enjoying the simple lifestyle afforded by a low-stress yet financially viable job. My job fuels many things I am passionate about while also funding months of international backpacking.
Overall, I love keeping things simple as a way of opening myself up to seemingly impossible exploration. I am beyond excited for the many travel opportunities that await!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing as a way to discover the mutual benefit of financially sustainable travel and relationship building. Hotels seem to be a lose-lose situation; they are the most expensive and the most isolating form of lodging. I Couchsurf because it is the most obvious choice. I get to open myself up to the inside views of a new town while also saving quite a bit of money! Couchsurfing gives me a much closer view of day-to-day living, which is ultimately what I am most interested in when experiencing a new place and meeting its residents. The advantages are too great to pass up.
Interests
My #1 passion is spending quality time with quality people. That is my priority as a young person taking a break from school and serious careers. On a lighter note, I am obsessed with music: playing, listening, and collecting records. I ride my bicycle endlessly all over Seattle. I have proudly hopped on the coffee bandwagon, and love learning more and more about the science and appreciation of the drink. I love planning trips in my little pockets of free time. I love the feeling of being on the move.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm always listening to new music from a variety of genres, but my favorite music right now has tight grooves and rich bass tones without sounding overwhelmingly digital. My other favorite right now is fuzzy guitar-driven music with a lot of energy. And everything in between.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last April, I embarked on a solo Greyhound bus trip from Seattle, WA to Winnipeg, MB. I proved to myself that 48 hours spent sitting on a bus isn't as bad as it sounds.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am able to teach the basics of rhythm and percussion study, tips on bicycle commuting, and how to brew the perfect cup of coffee. I can give a tourist guide to Seattle from an insider's perspective.
There are too many things I am interested in learning more about; share with me your knowledge on anything and everything! If I had to narrow it down, I am particularly interested in learning more about music production and recording, cooking, graphic design, photography, and media writing. From a travel standpoint, I am always looking to expand my list of favorite local spots for every town I visit!
Things I can share are listed below.
