About Me

I'm a positive guy who keeps things easy-going and laid back at all times. I love meeting new people from different backgrounds, and getting to know what experiences shaped them and makes them the way they are.

I love all forms of humor, and get along amazingly with people who also like to joke around a lot.

Love exploring new places in town, international travel, animals, hiking, biking, old buildings, and pretty much love learning anything new and meeting new people!

I enjoy cooking good healthy food -- we can pick things up from the grocery store down the street and make some good food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always wanted to be an "world explorer" when I was a little kid. Eventually this translated into loving travel! Couch Surfing is such a natural extension of travel. I would really like to try hosting as well as surfing and see it all!

Since I finally am out of school, I have finally been lucky enough to see some incredible places around the world. And somehow, I always seem to stumble into amazing people along the way. New and different people excite me a lot, and for me meeting interesting and kind new people is one of the top joys in life that keeps me going.

I am slowly working towards working freelance or location-independant, and am hoping to try out the "digital nomad" lifestyle. Hoping to live abroad soon!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music and listen to it all the time. I like almost all music, but my absolute favorites are:
-Jazz
-Funk
-Blues
-Soul
-Rap

I've taken a few piano lessons and can do some bluesy improvisation. If you like to play you can definitely take my Casio keyboard for a spin!

I also live right next to a jazz bar that plays great free jazz late night from 12AM - 3AM on Fridays, so if you're into this I'll definitely show you!

Books: Jack Kerouac, Game of Thrones, The Name of the Wind, Self-Improvement

I will say that I do not watch many TV or movies at all. And when I say not much.....I mean that we don't have a TV in the main room. If you really want to watch something, we can use a computer though!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm currently living in Madrid teaching English, so if you have any questions about English I am quite well-qualified to help :) In general I enjoy talking about nuances of language.

I know a lot of history of Saint Louis that I love to share.

It would be my pleasure to take you on a cruise around the city -- the glamorous and the not, the oldest parts, the Native American burial mounts, the abandoned churches, breweries, and industries, and the largest city part in the USA!

My roommate and have an air mattress in our living room for you. We live in a super walk-able part of town with many nearby bars and restaurants. There is also a large park nearby.

One good thing about Saint Louis City is how small it is -- you are just a 10 minute drive away from the largest city park in the USA (yes, larger than central park), any many other cool things to do.

Saint Louis is a city of hidden gems. One such example is The City Museum -- an enormous surreal adult playground (open until 12am on Fridays) made out of recycled materials, all built into a 100+ year building downtown that used to be a shoe factory. Think caves, treehouses, a giant whale you can walk through, a ferris wheel on the roof, a 4 story slide.....the list goes on and on.

I love when people from out of town come and I get the opportunity to show them some of the gems around town. We are considered a bit of a "flyover" city by a lot of the country, but there really are some amazingly unique things here! Not to mention, tons of delicious, varied, relatively inexpensive restaurants.

We also have 10 or so major craft breweries in town, the most famous nationally being Perennial (look it up, the beer is terrific). Another craft brewery is in the process of excavating a multi-level cave beneath a building that was a brewery 100 years ago. When they're finished, we will be able to go grab a fresh beer in that cave!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to think I'm a pretty good (and healthy) cook. And even more helpfully, I clean up after myself in the kitchen quickly and thoroughly! If I stay with you I'd love to relieve some stress from you by helping out with meals or other household things. I'm always open to learning new things so if there's something I can help with, don't be shy!
