About Me

Voracious reader of news, tech nerd, ball of anxiety yet lover of all people, amateur yogi, speed chess warrior, run in the park barefooter, frisbee connoisseur, headphone/earphone enthusiast, yearner of travel, hater of my fake/cushy/fancy sounding corporate job, husband, cook, taker-aparter of mechanical pencils, psychedelic explorer, f*cking LOVE dogs, get lost in a maze of alleyways on-purpose and try to find my way out sort of, ditch the map, what's the Wi-Fi password, stiff price negotiating, hate getting scammed-but-oh-well, peace loving Korean-American boi.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Grew up in a community that was always welcoming to travelers. I have many CS-er friends who've met the love of their lives through the site. I actually met my own wife while traveling on bike in Korea, so I whole-heartedly believe in taking a chance, saying hello or asking if someone who looks lost if they need a hand. Love to meet generous, open-minded folks who know how lucky they are to be able to travel, to understand the nature of 'abundance' in their lives and giving back.

Interests

I'm Korean so Starcraft is obligatory (you require more vespene gas!) I also dig art and yoga. I'm a proficient frisbee thrower and I get active for social causes I believe can make the world a more endearing and loveable place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ender's Game and Harry Potter, Dune and His Dark Materials were real big to me when I was a kid.
I make documentary movies and write poetry but my real deal is live music. I LIVE for live music and I'll either be fighting towards the front row or dancing silently near the fringes

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent six months playing chess full-time in Washington Square Park, NYC

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm working on my Mandarin. I hope to become a diplomat one day. I can teach you basic yoga or simple Korean culinary dishes. I used to be a chess teacher, and I speak English fairly well. My background's in marketing so if you need some ad-hoc copywriting or some savvy in digital marketing, I'm your man. I will vibe with your dog, and I usually bring gifts from Korea with me to wherever I'm traveling to, so please host me and my wife ^__^

What I Can Share with Hosts

A drink or two at a local bar, a friendly game of chess, good vibes
