About Me
Fairly easy going and adaptable, tolerant, ever curious, experience and ideas abound.
That's really what you need to know, that and my name is actually Trevor (my dog Kevin's Facebook profile has my personal email address, so only thing cs will allow me to link).
Deep stuff that you don't have to read -
I've fallen in love with learning about the rest of the world.
I grew up privileged in so many ridiculous ways. Born in Canada, safety, clean water, schooling, and beyond that, my parents were particularly wealthy.
11 years ago after I started to actually travel (rather than a "vacation" at a resort) I realized how small my view of the world was.
My first light bulb moment was walking in Korea and being completely annoyed at how rude everyone was. They were walking into me and giving me dirty looks - and I thought it was because I was a foreigner.
Then I realized it - I WAS AN ASSHOLE - walking down the wrong side of the sidewalk!
That hit me like a truck. I realized my view of the world and my ideas were so incredibly narrow and therefore judgmental that I had to fix it.
I quit working for the family business and making a lot of money and opened a health store for pets so I could be around what I liked, and make a difference.
I make 20% of the money I used to make, but I'm much happier. And now I spend my time and limited money trying to explore and understand as many different cultures, people and places as I can!
I've now been to somewhere around 45 different countries on 4 continents, and the thing I enjoy most is experiencing real people in meaningful ways.
Highlights of my travel include grocery shopping with local people and cooking together while talking about anything and everything.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to experience the real things wherever I go. How do you mesh with the community, where and how does your work fit in to society.
Where's the best place to shop in local markets for food?
What awesome things can I experience that aren't "tourist".
Where's that awesome swimming hole where everyone brings their families to enjoy a great day with food and beer?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being kind to people is the most amazing thing we can do in this world :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
My experiences in so many different places on this great ball we live on.
I'll happily spend an afternoon building something while talking about the world and what we think of the people in it.
Gratitude and happiness - I'd like to think I could restore your faith that even those who were unfairly given too much early in life can decide to give that away and become a good human :)
