About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to learn a thing or two about Foreigners! I also want to give them an authentic experience in China that they cannot possibly get in Beijing or Shanghai :)

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Kevin. I welcome you to come to Wugang, China! I'm 28 and just married my beautiful wife, Victoria! We run an English school together in Wugang, and love to have foreigners come to stay with us and volunteer at our school.

Over the past year we have had over 30 foreigners come and stay in our home town. Here you will find no real foreign influence (like McDonalds, Starbucks, etc.) You'll instead be immersed in the real China: a city where people speak little or no English. Also, you'll find the air here is a lot better to breathe, haha. Wugang is situated next to beautiful longquan lake, and there is plenty of great hiking and outdoorsy stuff to do around town.

When I was living in Beijing, I was a sort of tutor for a lot of foreign students learning Chinese. When you come to Wugang, I'll be more than willing to help you with your Chinese (that is of course, if you can help me with my English, too :))

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just want to promote mutual understanding between Chinese and Foreigners, while giving Chinese children a chance to meet Foreigners as well. Meeting foreigners in towns like wugang is really hard, and so giving locals, especially children, exposure to them is a kind of dream to them!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Though I haven't done much 'couchsurfing' in China (because that concept is totally foreign here) I have hosted a great deal of foreigners in my home who have come to experience wugang, learn some Chinese and volunteer for a couple hours a week at my English school.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Though this doesn't seem really big in westerner's eyes: Returning to my hometown from a big city like Beijing. It's been really rewarding to help kids get an education that normally big city kids can get. Also, hosting an 80 year old Argentinian in my home and helping him learn Chinese was unforgetable too!
