About Me

ABOUT ME

I am from Singapore, a small little country in Southeast Asia. Right now I am doing on a Student Exchange Programme in Stockholm and will be there for the next 5 months (Jan to May). Really looking forward to traveling around Europe and exploring different the different cultures and ... beer.

I consider myself to be pretty adventurous. I love to try out new activities whenever I'm in a different country - from surfing in Bali to snowboarding in Scotland; biking in Laos and diving off cliffs in Taiwan.

Currently, I live in a student dormitory called Lappis. It is located next to Stockholm University and is a 15 min metro ride to Stockholm Central. I am a little new to this city so I might not know all the "local" hot-spots. Nonetheless, I can bring you to some of the amazing sights around Stockholm and some of my fav restaurants!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been on CS for about 3 months? I've surfed and hosted a couple of times and met new people via the events that people have!

Interests

Food, definitely the food. As a Singaporean (where life revolves around food - you can find cheap and amazing food at ANYTIME of the day and night), exploring the local cuisine is a definite must. I think food does subtly reflect the history and culture of a country. Given that my country has a rather limited beer variety (though this has changed much in recent times) I definitely want to try out the different beer brews around Europe!

I find one of the best ways to explore a place is to lose yourself in a city. I think one can observe so much about the city - its architecture, its people - by simply walking. Ever so often, I will stumble across a quaint looking cafe which I can just pop in a grab a cup of coffee, ahhh. Love it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first bike trip in Laos! Spent about a week biking around the Bolaven Plateau which is pretty famous for its numerous waterfalls! Had a great time eating local food (sticky rice), drinking Beer Lao and swimming in the waterfalls. Falling off the bike wasn't part of the plan though...

Teach, Learn, Share

This learning and sharing is what makes traveling so amazing. I'm hoping to pick up a couple of phrases in the different language and to know more about the history of each city. On my part, I can teach a couple of Mandarin phrases and perhaps can show you how to whip up one or two "local" dishes!

If you ever pop by my tiny little country, I'll definitely bring you to one of the many kopitiams (local slang) to feast.
