About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to experience different places around the world open-mindedly and out-goingly and trying to meet as many people along the way.

ABOUT ME

I am a full-time English student living in Edmonton Alberta currently. Playing with a few bands in Edmonton i've done a few tours and other various music projects.

Other than music, I enjoy cycling, busking, skateboarding, and participating in various activist and art driven projects.

I'm a pretty outgoing guy, love getting out and trying new things, I like to party! (In a respectful manner).

PHILOSOPHY

This is incredible hard to answer properly. I'll just say I'm a very considerate, kind individual with a plethora of views on even more varied subjects. I also believe most of our leaders are actually lizards..... kidding.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to Couch Surfers but through the career of playing punk rock music, i've slept alot of very strange places in Canada and the United States. Because of this, i've met alot of other musicians across the continent and have opened up my house to them as well. From 2-piece relaxed folk musician sleepovers, to 9-piece ska band all-night-parties, i've tried to allow anyone who is in need of a place to stay welcome at my house.

For me, couch surfing is a great way to meet interesting locals and new friends in different places. If the years on the road have taught me anything, it's that people are pretty similar no matter where you go so i'd love to meet new people anywhere!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Oakland, California.
Santa Cruz, California.
Pretty much every major city in Canada.
Hosted a number of people in Edmonton

Interests

Music; Punk rock mostly, but anything else as well. I play guitar, sing and song write, but also play in alt-folk bands with instruments such as banjo, accordion, and musical saw. This is a big part of who I am and the best way to get to know me would be through this.

I have other interests as well though, I love to read and learn. I enjoy outdoor activites too, especially skateboarding and biking.

Activist culture and community is a great interest of mine and i try to be involved as often as I can with various projects.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Way too many to name, here's a choice few: The Menzingers, Audio/Rocketry, the Flatliners, Tom Waits, Jason Webley, Bomb The Music Industry!, Anarcho-Folk Punk bands, The Slackers, Aggrolites, Murder By Death, Avett Brothers, and many many more.

Movies: I'm not too much of a movie guy, being very concerned with gender politics and anti-captalistic though, I end up being very cynical about the movies in theatres. But there are some i like! Fight Club, Groundhog Day, Howl, Documentaries, The soon to be released Arrested Development movie, any Zombie movie.

Books: Dostoevsky, Bulkakov, Tolstoy, Henry David Throeau, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Paul Auster, Kurt Vonnegut, Emerson, Bukowski, cormac mcarthy, and a bunch of others...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once while on a tour from Vancouver to Toronto, my band and I decided to cross the border and drive south through the states. We drove for something like 22 hours, passing through the province of Manitoba, then North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and arriving finally in Chicago Illinois. Being completely alone except for each other, we wandered to the beach where we randomly met some people there from a journalism university program. They invited us to a party. After 22 hours of driving through 5 states and 1 province we found ourselves playing a gig at a rooftop, penthouse party show in downtown Chicago with a group of Americans we'd never met before. It was a great adventure and all completely unplanned!

Teach, Learn, Share

1. Come stay with me and i'll gladly give you a free music lesson on any instrument of your choice (that i own) along with a tour of some of the best local musicians and underground spots in Edmonton (and there are alot)

2. I know of alot of other cool Edmonton places/events off the beaten path that i'd be glad to share. Restaurants, bike paths, picnic spots, skate spots, etc.
