About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I booked a one way ticket to France and now I'm figuring out what's next.
ABOUT ME
Oh, man. I've been hanging out with me for 28 years and this is still hard to answer succinctly.
First and foremost, I laugh easily. I'm also a person who never stops thinking about the world, and about how I relate to it. I work very hard to live out a humanist set of values, and I think one of the first things people would say about me is that I'm kind and compassionate. They would also say that I'm intellectual and analytical, a trait that sometimes leads to laughter when I unselfconsciously refer to people as humans, or my family as a kin group. I'm a good listener, occasionally funny, and I tend to sing when I'm drunk. I'm a bit shy, but it's mostly because I find small talk kinda boring and pointless. So let's just skip that and talk about urbanism, art, crazy (mis)adventures, and all the baggage of being a modern human. I mean, person.
PHILOSOPHY
I once sat next to a person on a bus who smelled exactly like Cornflakes. I texted a friend about it (obviously, since I'm such an excitable gossip). Her reply was 'Oh yeah, that's happened to me before.' WHAT?! Is there a purchasable scent produced by Kellog's?? How can more than one person smell like Cornflakes?! Anyway, that and resistance to capitalism are pretty much all I think about all day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd like to both host and travel on CS, but I haven't done either yet.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have no CouchSurfing.org experience! I joined a long time ago while thinking about a trip that fell through and life got busy and I just never really got started. Now I'm back!
Interests
Tons of stuff. My education is mostly around the sociology of labour and work, so my brain is sort of always churning out stuff about social class and dignity and resistance and alienation. My work right now is all over the place, so I'm kinda thinking about conceptions of space and the social, the aggregation of choice versus the collectivization of decision making, and pedagogy and random stuff.
Regardless of what that all sounds like, I don't take myself very seriously.
I spend most of my time just talking and thinking and laughing and eating. It's tough but someone has to do it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
You'd think I'd pick the pyramids or something large, but honestly, seeing Utah Phillips live at a tiny college theatre, eating a sandwich from Katz's deli in New York on Christmas day, and seeing Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman performed were all emotionally resonant experiences for me.
