About Me
As we journey through this short life, I believe that we find meaning by caring for others and sharing both happy and sad moments. Why I’m on Couchsurfing
OUR WHY:
There is something so very beautiful about being hosted and then paying it forward by providing someone else an equally amazing experience, all without the exchange of money. I believe couchsurfing brings out the best in people and helps us all to have amazing life experiences and establish life long friendships around the world.
We have been extended much generosity by others in my travels and I’m looking forward to doing to same for others.
We host when we are at home and we love staying and hanging out with CS hosts while we travel.
OUR JOURNEY
My wife and I are on an open learning journey. In 2020, we quit our office jobs in search for a more meaningful life. We found ways to shrink our living costs and to make a humble living digitally. Since the world re-opened we have been planning new adventures. Our goal is to visit interesting places and build meaningful connections with the people who call those places home.
We've found that when we keep our travel plans flexible - e.g. leave things open with our hosts, create opportunities to meet others and embrace spontaneous adventures - we always find ourselves going home with richer life experiences and relationships.
We are continually trying to do away with our "old programming" and learning "new ways" to experience the world and people. We try not to meet only people who are like us, but people from many walks of life, culture, orientation and world views.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
We are interested in meeting people and listening to their stories: What was growing up like? What are your dreams? What makes you tick? What role does your culture play in your life? What have your learned about life and what would you like to share with us?

Music, Movies, and Books
Books
We like books that are thought provoking across a range of topics. We love asking other surfers for book recommendations! Even without reading the book, I find the recommendations enriching.
Writers that have influenced me: Dale Carnegie, Albert Camus, Walt Whitman, Franz Kafka, Jack Welch, Herman Hesse, Clayton Christensen and Daniel Kahneman.
Movies
Recently my wife and I have been exploring movies available via our public library card. We get access to a streaming service that has a large collection of international film, documentaries and old film. We have been researching notable films from countries that we know very little about, but are very curious. It's been really eye-opening and boundary-expanding watching a foreign film about another country that we know so very little about.
Recently enjoyed movie: Into the Wild
Music
Honestly these days spotify makes music hunting a bit easier, but also lazier. Similar to book recommendations, we love learning about what my fellow travellers or hosts are listening to, I'll try listening to the music for the next while and I find that so very cool, living (or listening) in someone else's shoes for a little bit. Clarice can play some music for you or we can play together!
We recently: Created a memories playlist for our CS friends who visited Canada. We can share some of the songs with you.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We once lived together with another Couchsurfing couple for 3 months in Canada. It was one of the best experiences of our lives. We went on so many adventures together and formed so many great memories!
Teach, Learn, Share
We believe in staying curious, our big learning themes are: finding joy in every day moments, minimalism, mindfulness, music, how to be respectful world travellers, languages.
We are on a journey to meet great CS people and to make life long friends.
Amateur Experiences: Cooking, Crochet, Guitar, Piano, Pickle Ball, fixing computers, fixing bicycles and general DIY. Also Hong Kong childhood games like Big 2, Chinese checkers and dice games.
Professional Experiences: biology, teaching, music, engineering, business management, supply chain and life coaching.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Our kindness and friendship. We can also cook a vegetarian or meat-filled meal, help with chores around the house, we can share some music (Clarice sings and plays piano) and Kevin is a trove of stories and trivia.
Additionally:
Clarice can give you a piano/music lesson, make some authentic Hong Kong Milk tea, bake really good cornbread, and offer a free life coaching session or lessons in personal financial management.
Kevin can tune-up your bicycle, show you how to build a great campfire, teach some campfire songs, run a kids outdoor program, cook some tasty food, teach you how to open oysters or help you with Excel spreadsheets.
