About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Participate fully in my own personal evolution and take part in building a Global Community

ABOUT ME

I am an easygoing guy who loves to travel, meet new people, make merry, and laugh. I am open to new ideas, experiences, and people. When I stay with you, I hope to learn about your culture, so anything you can teach me will be met with great appreciation. I can cook, dance, and be the instigator of small adventures.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to live a rich and personally fulfilling life full of adventure, passion, and many relationships. I want to connect with more and more people from all over the world and give birth to the idea of a Global Community. I want take steps towards ending war, poverty, and injustice.

Happiness is what life is about. I reach towards it by focusing on community, sharing, dedicating myself to a mission I believe in, and also by not putting money high on my priority list.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted many interesting travelers at my beach cottage, thrown a number of beach bonfire parties for CSers, been involved in CS events in Seattle (like the 2009 Scavenger Hunt and Halloween party). I have Couch Surfed in Puerto Rico, and most recently spent a month in the Czech Republic getting to know the CSers there (great group).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While living in Japan for a year I would often travel around, and of course meet many other travelers. My favorite thing to do was invite them to come back to my sleepy fishing village and experience a corner of Japan they would never be able to get to on their own. I would take them hiking on the mountain next to my house then we would head to a tiny Okonomiyaki restaurant run by a woman who lived right upstairs. We were definitely the only foreigners who ever ate there, and the old grandpas got a kick out of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

"The Potent Self" by Moshe Feldenkrais

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in a 300 year old thatched-roof cottage in one of the 3 most remote spots in Japan for 2 months. Farming, cooking, engaging in cultural activities, and trying to communicate with elders who speak a dialect of Japanese so old even Japanese people can't understand them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you something amazing about your body and movement. Let's go dancing.

I can show you how to brazenly disregard the conventional.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in a beautiful condo on Capitol Hill with a view of the city. I have a guest bedroom with a Murphy bed and private bathroom (well, you have to share it with my kittens). Come and stay a day or two and I'll show you around the city.

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Fiji, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, United States
