Overview
About Me
I live with two good friends (Matt and Chris) in a house in Fishtown, a great neighborhood on the outskirts of central Philadelphia. The house is still a bit of a work-in-progress (it's about a hundred years old), and I'm gradually trying to update it. The problem is that there aren't many sleeping spaces. There are two couches, both kind of on the smaller side, though one is a little bigger than the other and pretty comfortable.
A large part of my life revolves around music. I play guitar and sing, and our house is full of musical instruments and records. My roommate Matt and I have been in a few bands together.
Aside from being a great music city, Philadelphia is home to a great beer scene, and I love seeking out new craft breweries when travelling. An ideal night in this city for me might be a bar crawl around my neighborhood, a concert or maybe just a quiet night in, playing board games or jamming on Beatles songs.
I formerly worked in the airline industry, and because of that, I had the opportunity to do some great traveling. Back then I was a more active Couch Surfer. I now work in Center City, however, in a more traditional office job, which has me pretty much working the typical 9-5 hours. Because of this, it can be hard to host people during the week.
Philadelphia is an amazing city with all kinds of interesting people, places and things. Fishtown, in particular, is a lively neighborhood with a variety of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, music venues, record stores, galleries, etc.
Please try to send your request at least a week out, if possible. I cannot host as many people as I'd like because of work and other commitments. I do tend to accept people who have more detailed profiles and have written a bit more about themselves, and also, people who have some references. Also, in your message/couch request, just let me know why you want to come to Philly and/or what you're interested in seeing and doing while you're here. Even if I can't host you, I can always give you some recommendations of things to do and see while you're in town.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Over the last few years, I've hosted a number of people traveling to Philly. Many of these people have become good friends, and I still keep in touch with them. I'd like to think I'm somewhat of an expert on this city, or at least an enthusiast, and I have recommendations for all kinds of things to do. I've surfed a few couches in different places myself, too.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm more or less a Beatles scholar. They are everything to me. It all starts there.
Other favorite bands include Wilco, Dawes, Nick Lowe, Deer Tick, Bob Dylan, REM, Paul Simon, Fountains of Wayne, Fleetwood Mac, Oasis, The Clash, The Replacements, U2, Warren Zevon...
Big on Philadelphia bands, like Dr. Dog, Kurt Vile, and Hop Along.
Truman Capote is probably my favorite author.
I'm a Star Wars nerd, for sure.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a month exploring Australia in early 2014. It was one of the most unbelievable trips. The people we met were so amazingly kind and helpful, and the scenery there was unforgettable. Would love to go back.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach a good bit about guitar and music. I love hearing about the places where people are from and the places they've traveled. My two favorites so far have been Australia and Iceland.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We have two small couches (one is the more comfortable for sleeping), along with a few extra blankets, pillows and towels. If we have beer in the fridge, we're glad to share it with you.
