About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make friends.
Be compassionate.
Be happy.
Just tryin' to be an ethical, kind, fully-developed young person without losing that little spark of madness that makes everything spicier.

ABOUT ME

An easygoing twenty-two-year-old college student of Tufts University. Massachusetts, United States. Eager to experience all kinds of cool things and make a friend or two. Things I like: reading weird fiction, museums, doodling, vain attempts at writing fiction, long conversations about exotic subjects I know anywhere from everything to nothing about, and pretty much any activity that takes place out in the open air.

I am fairly independent in my traveling, and would not need my host to go too far out of their way to accommodate me, although I would love to have someone fascinating and friendly to talk to, particularly about films, literature, life, or all three.

If you wish to engage someone in a rambling hourlong conversation about something strange, I'm your guy!

PHILOSOPHY

An awfully big question for an awfully small box (although it doesn't seem to have a character limit, so I could technically write on and on FOREVER).

I believe that sadness, despair, and other disruptive emotions (beyond the natural amounts of them that manifest in every life) can be fought off through understanding and reconciliation with the darker parts of life, rather than through ignorance and avoidance of such darknesses.

In general, I have a philosophy of what I call romantic rationality: the belief that while life can best be managed and strategically handled using scientific rationality and logic, it can only be fully appreciated and understood if one is willing to accept the limits of rationality and logic as they apply to human life.

Well, that was dry.
I also believe in day-to-day positivity, silliness, art, the myriad forms that friendship can take, tea, and tasty stir fry.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to use Couchsurfing to make some amazing friends and memories, although I have no house of my own to offer up at this point in my life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed with hosts in Denmark, Norway, Egypt, and Turkey.

Interests

At college, I am a part of a theatrical mime troupe, I work as a writing tutor, and I sometimes make contributions to the literary journal and the daily newspaper. In my spare time, I get a kick out of running, cycling, reading, having long conversations with interesting people who I don't normally get the chance to talk to at an American university, hiking, and going to the movies. I really just enjoy hearing anyone talk about anything that they are passionate about. Overall, I love the thrill of learning about new ideas, offbeat lifestyles, and new ways of looking at the world, and I believe I could get along with anyone who shares a somewhat similar kind of open curiosity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much to list!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving in the Red Sea, floating in a swarm of vibrant fish.

One day this past summer, as I was biking to work in Boston, a little boy accidentally let his little scooter roll away into the road. His mother kept him from chasing after it, and he looked like he had just lost the love of his life. Without stopping, I leaned over and caught the scooter, took a u-turn, and set the scooter rolling back to the boy in one smooth motion. It was the closest I've ever come to my lifelong goal of being Batman.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk for hours about various novels and films that are dear to me, as well as impart some lessons about acting, improv, and miming!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always eager to help out my host in any way possible- doing dishes, cleaning a bit, or just providing company- and I always try to leave a gift of some kind!
