I'm a music, travel, and technology lover. I spent my 20s killing myself establishing my career, so now I'm finally taking time to relax a bit more and enjoy myself. I ride motorcycles, listen to, DJ, and produce techno, house, and ambient music, and I like to wander whenever possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whether it's trekking to Brooklyn for the weekend to catch an underground techno show with my music producer friends, taking a cross-country motorcycle trip, or watching the sunrise on the beach 5 miles from my house, I'm out to experience the world, interact with people, and immerse myself in everything that this wonderful planet has to offer.

I want people who come to my hometown to experience a unique environment that breaks the bad stereotypes of Virginia and the South in general. We're a laid back beach community (of 430,000) that enjoys the outdoors, live music, and good food.

I spent 12 weeks (a 5 week stint, then a 7 week stint the next year) surfing a friend's couch in Orlando when I was 18 and 19, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Lately, I spend one Friday night of the month surfing a couch in DC, and it makes for a great way to get out and enjoy traveling.

Interests

I listen to electronic music, techno, tech-house, and house mostly, and that's a huge part of my life. I started producing in 1999 and DJing in 2002, but only as a hobby. Aside from that, I love riding motorcycles, astronomy, camping, technology, and good conversations.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite artists are Audion, Orbital, Radio Slave, Adriatique, Floppy Sounds, Prodigy, Gabriel & Dresden, Scuba, Daniel Bortz, Quivver, and Plastikman.

As far as movies, my tastes are all over the place. Anything sci-fi, high fantasy, or heady drama/thriller is probably on my list.

I used to watch a lot of TV shows on Netflix. Name any of the popular ones, and I probably saw it. I have been focusing more on living away from a screen lately, though.

As for books, I'm a huge fan of Douglas Adams, Hemmingway, and H.P. Lovecraft.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In May of 2014, I took a 6700 mile motorcycle trip across the south, from Virginia Beach to Key West to Albuquerque and back, over the course of 36 days. I've also climbed mountains in Hawaii, sailboarded through hurricanes in Florida, snowboarded in the Appalachian Mountains, driven 800 miles in one shot from Virginia Beach to Orlando, and hiked dozens of miles in rainforests, but I consider my journey just barely started.
