About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To connect with something bigger than myself. (That's not a pickup line!)
ABOUT ME
I have lived near St. Louis, Missouri, USA all of my life. Sometimes it gets a little old but it's home and there are certainly worse places to be from.
Overall, I am a gregarious, funny guy. I love to laugh and live to laugh! While I can talk your ear off, I am a good listener as well. I like nothing more than a good conversation with great friends and new friends.
PHILOSOPHY
The most important thing I can say about myself is that I know the importance of growing. Sometimes people make bad decisions and sometimes there are bridges you cross that you didn't know you crossed until you crossed (to borrow a line from Wicked). The beauty of humanity, I am starting to realize, is that we get to pick ourselves up, assess the situation and change. It is wonderful...
Right now, I am trying to grow and be completely honest with myself and others. Sometimes, you have to say "Enough with the bullshit," and, in the words of Red from the Shawshank Redemption, "Get busy living, or get busy dying."
Along with that, I am realizing that a lot of us are convinced early on to begin chasing something that we probably don't want. I don't want to drive a new car. I don't want to work 80 hours a week for the big paycheck. Rather, I want to see the world. I want to meet new people. I want to hear interesting and unique stories.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am relatively new to the CS project. I love the St. Louis CS group. I have met a lot of great local friends. I try to meet new CSers when I travel and have met some wonderful people. Also, I host when I am able and am always up for meeting for coffee!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am new to the CS experience but have heard great things about it.
Interests
I am really interested in religion and politics. Yes, I realize that these are the two taboo topics and are supposed to be left out of polite conversation but I think that intelligent adults can discuss and share ideas in a reasonable fashion with no hard feelings. That said, if people don't like to discuss these topics I certainly respect that.
I absolutely love conversation and can talk about pretty much anything intelligently with the exception of sports (sorry!). I like to meet new people and to hear their stories.

Music, Movies, and Books
I tend to read almost anything. My favorite genres are fantasy and, in the non-fiction realm, history, science and economics books. Frequently, I become obsessed with a topic, read as much as I can on it and then move on to another topic.
I enjoy almost all movie genres. My absolute favorite movies include Saved! and Welcome to the Dollhouse. I also enjoy documentaries and movies that leave you confused afterwards but give you plenty of ammunition for a late-night conversation.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've lived enough to realize that I haven't lived enough! The great thing is it's getting better everyday!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a history nut and so like to think that I have a lot of information to share on the development and history of my country. Also, I am a lawyer so can bore you with the finer points of American Constitutional law and the bankruptcy system.
I may not have a lot of specific skills; I can't teach you to play a guitar or cook you a world class meal. I can, however, be a polite guest or host, and tell you my story. I would also love to hear yours.
