I am currently a graduate student from Richmond, VA working in statistics for complex trait genetics. I also paint surrealist images in traditional oil paint and exhibit around my home state.

Traveling is a relatively new experience for me. In 2014 I joined this site and began a two-month trip across the US that was eye opening and gave me a deep appreciation for the humility and generosity of strangers. As someone who has lived mostly in my own introverted world of private pursuits, it was a transformative experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I prefer, when possible, to travel with minimal possessions and flexible plans. I like to visit new places without expectations or prejudices. Couchsurfing has been a valuable experience of basic human connection and friendship.
I would also like to host travelers in the future, but I'm not yet set up to do so.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm open to anything but with books I gravitate toward nonfiction and don't often have the patience to complete even classic fiction. It's partly because I'm compelled to devote as much time as I have available to my graduate studies.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could definitely teach drawing and painting technique. Cooking as well.

I've also taught many people about meditation, based generally on the techniques of Theravada, unaffiliated with any spirituality or symbolism.

And of course I'm happy to share any knowledge I have about psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, math, statistics, genetics, and so on.
