About Me

Hey there! I'm Kevin, a Taiwanese-Canadian avid globetrotter with a serious thirst for adventure! 🌍🌟 To me, travel is about so much more than just ticking destinations off a map - it's about connecting with locals, sharing stories, and seeing life through different lenses. 🤝📚✨ I owe a lot of my transformative travel philosophy to the "Seek Discomfort" and "Discover Connection" channels on YouTube. They've taught me to seek out new experiences and find meaningful connections wherever I go. 🎥🌟 After all, as the old saying goes, "a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet." 🙌

When I'm not out exploring the world, I work as an investment analyst for a large asset manager. 💼 I have a passion for the great outdoors, including hiking, backpacking, and staying active. 🏔️🥾 I also enjoy cooking, playing with Lego, and trying out new things. 🍳🧱🌟 Whether it's scaling a mountain, sampling a new cuisine, or catching some live music, I'm always ready to seize the day. 🌞🎶

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I'm excited to be part of this amazing community of travelers who share a passion for adventure, cultural exchange, and friendship. For me, Couchsurfing is not just a platform for finding free accommodation, but a social network that allows me to meet new people, experience local life, and learn new things.

As a traveler, I love connecting with locals and other travelers who share my interests and passions. Couchsurfing has been a great way for me to do just that. Through this platform, I've made amazing friends from all over the world, learned about different cultures, and created unforgettable memories.

What I love most about Couchsurfing is the opportunity to experience local life in a way that's not possible when staying in a hotel or hostel. Couchsurfing hosts have been instrumental in helping me achieve this goal. They have shown me around their cities, taken me to local events, and introduced me to their friends. This has given me a unique insight into the local way of life and enriched my travel experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I'm not traveling, I enjoy spending my time listening to old school R&B and EDM. Some of my favorite artists include W&W, Hardwell, and Andrew Rayel. As for movies, I'm open to watching anything except for horror movies. I tend to get nightmares and end up sleeping with the lights on for a few nights. In terms of books, I have a keen interest in non-fiction and economics. Some of my favorite books include "Why Nations Fail", "Flash Boys", and "Thinking, Fast and Slow".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done is kayaking in Lake Louise, surrounded by the stunning snow-capped mountains and crystal clear waters. It was an awe-inspiring experience that left me feeling humbled by the beauty of nature.

In addition, I have gone on multiple road trips through scenic routes such as Calgary, Drumheller, Portland, and Newport. Each journey was filled with unique experiences, from exploring ancient fossils in Drumheller to discovering hidden gems in Newport. These trips have allowed me to gain a deeper appreciation for the world around me and the diversity of cultures and landscapes.

Overall, my passion for adventure and exploration has led me on some incredible journeys, and I'm always eager to discover more of what the world has to offer.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching is something I enjoy, and I have expertise in personal finance, investments, and tech-related topics. I'm always happy to share my knowledge and help others achieve their goals.

Learning is also important to me, and I am constantly seeking new knowledge and skills. I have an interest in the fields of tech, healthcare, and banking, and I am eager to expand my understanding of these areas.

Sharing experiences is one of the most rewarding things about traveling and meeting new people. I love sharing my experiences, lifestyle, and workouts with others. I'm always up for an outdoor adventure and enjoy exploring new places with like-minded individuals. Whether it's hiking, backpacking, or trying new cuisines, I'm always excited to learn and share new experiences with others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I love to connect with my hosts and share stories, experiences, and knowledge. I'm always eager to learn from others and share my own expertise as well. Specifically, I can offer my knowledge of personal finance and investments, as well as my tech-savvy skills and computer expertise. In return, I'm always open to learning more about pretty much anything!

Aside from my professional skills and interests, I'm also happy to share my experiences and insights on lifestyle, workouts, and the great outdoors. I love to stay active and explore new places, so I'm always game for a hike, bike ride, or outdoor adventure. Whether we're cooking a meal together or chatting over a cup of coffee, I'm excited to connect with my hosts and learn more about their lives and interests.
