CURRENT MISSION

In no particular order:
•Revitalize dormant CS communities across Colorado (hosting a Couchsurfing event in Leadville April 9th and Grand Junction April 13th).
•Working two jobs to payoff debt and save a well funded emergency fund.
•Renovate our log cabin in Pine Junction to eventually rent or sell.
•Returning to school for civil engineering.
•Saving up money for my wilderness EMT certification.
•Ride my bike from Wyoming to New Mexico along the Western Slopes of Colorado in September.

ABOUT ME

If you are traveling by bicycle check out my Warmshowers profile here: https://www.warmshowers.org/user/267699

Regarding social media I am most active on Instagram:
https://www.instagram.com/_kevinpost/

I live in a log cabin in a small Colorado mountain town and enjoy being outside. While not outside or being at a desk making a living, I read books, study languages, take courses through Colorado Mountain Club, learn to cook, watch standup comedy and find ways to give back to the community via mutual aid or volunteering.

While traveling I usually prefer to spend time in rural areas while partaking in outdoor activities and eating local cuisine. When I am in cities I visit community spaces, used or radical book stores, libraries and unique third spaces. I go to theatres, operas, concerts, poetry readings and art events even if I don't understand the language.

Most importantly, I enjoy spending time with locals and immersing myself in local cultures hence why Couchsurfing is so appealing to me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING/COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I enjoy hosting and have hosted over five hundred people through Couchsurfing, Warmshowers, Nomadlist, Colorado Mountain Club, mutual friends of Couchsurfers and word of mouth over a sixteen year period. I know what it is like to travel on a budget and to find good hosts while exploring the world. Couchsurfing only works due to reciprocity and it's an honor to give back to the community since it has given me so much over the decades.

I stay with couchsurfering hosts because some of the strongest, most fulfilling relationships I have ever had were in someway linked to Couchsurfing. I'd rather spend my money allocated for accommodations on my hosts.

I have organized countless CS events in Europe, Asia, North and South America. I am currently hosting events in dormant CS communities to try to revive them.

I have organized CS couch-crashes over a decade ago and would like to continue that legacy (I'm an organizer for the upcoming Denver Couch this summer: https://www.couchsurfing.com/events/2024-denver-couch-crash-mile-high-city-pride). I've given presentations on how to best utilize CS and have participated in welcoming new members.

I was once a Couchsurfing Ambassador for Orlando (USA) and Sabaneta (Colombia) and have decades of Couchsurfing experience.

Interests

Getting outdoors in general is something I love but don't do enough of these days.
I need to get healthier mentally and physically because I have gained a lot of weight this winter :(

Music, Movies, and Books

A list of some books I am currently reading and have read here: www.goodreads.com/kevinpost
I get a lot of inspiration from books.

My all time favorite movies happen the be musicals because I grew up on them as a child. However, I don't watch as many movies as I'd like because I am always working or studying :(

Music depends on my mood. I like some genres more than others but it depends on the environment I'm in and the context. Share some musicians you think I've never heard before and I promise I won't judge you!

What I Can Share with Hosts

• I take hosts out for lunch and dinner if they have time for it or I buy groceries and prepare meals for my hosts in accordance of their dietary needs as a small appreciation for having me in their home.
• I tidy up their home so that I leave it better than I found it.
•I have decades of travel and couchsurfing experience and can show you some tips and tricks I've learned along the way.
• I give my hosts peace of mind that I am an independent traveler and will not significantly disrupt their daily routines unless that's what they want!
• Spending time with my hosts is a top priority. CS is not just a free hotel it's about sharing knowledge, stories and experiences.
• I can bring foods and goods from the United States (more specifically Colorado) upon request in advance. No guarantees of course.
• I most certainly will return the favor of hosting when they get the chance to visit me. Remember, Couchsurfing only works when reciprocated!
• I offer English and Spanish assistance upon request.
•I can teach you introductions to rock climbing.
