About Me

NOW: Currently living and working a corporate job in New York but tried to have my fair share of adventures as a uni student.

My thing was (or is...!) to experience new, totally different cultures from my Korean-American background each time I travel. I've purposely selected places as different from one another as Egypt, Kenya, and Bangladesh to really get a feel for how different the world is!

Hobbies: Squash, basketball, learning a second language

Favorite travel-related experiences:
Overall: Better to regret something you did than something you didn't!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Stayed with CS'ers in Egypt, Israel, Jordan... learned so much from my hosts and it added greatly to my experience of a particular area / country.

Travelling is so much about the people and the new experiences that CS seems like a perfect place to run into more!

Interests

Basketball

Squash

Traveling to places TOTALLY different from one another

Trying amazing new experiences, amazing new foods, meeting amazing new people.

Getting lost somewhere for a day, a night, a week, a month and seeing what happens!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Kanye West, John Mayer, Zion T, Primary,
Movies: Oceans Eleven
TV: Mad Men, Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown,
Books: Big Short, Fresh Off the Boat

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not something I've actually done but: Walked right past Amar'e Stoudemire in Jerusalem, had dinner in honor of the brother of the King of Jordan in Wadi Rum, and Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus!

Teach, Learn, Share

Traveling without a plan is the best. My Kenya volunteer group basically didn't have a plan and winged it -- We ended up being able to relax and enjoy ourselves while accomplishing our goals.

Always say yes. I know there are so many dangers to this tip here in a foreign place but its always brought me great memories of a place no matter what. The bad may seem to outweigh the good with a bad decision, but what you will always remember and possibly never have the opportunity to even try again are the AMAZING memories abroad.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Anything of my experiences! Anything about life in New York, Seoul, Cairo, Southern France - all places I've been in for extended stays.

A love of language and listening to stories
