My classmate has some wonderful experience in using couchsurfing. As a student, tend to have tight budget, and It's also a good venue to meet new friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't tried yet, but I once offered my couch to an Australian traveller while I was living in Shanghai.
