HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted, surfed and traveled with people from this site. It's become a normal thing for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did a fair amount of couch surfing during my first visit to Europe in 2009, and I would say it pretty much always improved my traveling experience, no matter where I stayed. Since I joined CS, I've had nothing but positive experiences on both ends of the deal.

Interests

I make music, ride bikes, kayak, snowboard, and I've spent most of the last decade writing for various newspapers and magazines. I taught English and Spanish for four years. I also love history and art, which is really what keeps me traveling as much as I have. I'll be visiting Asia for the first time (Japan, Vietnam, China, and Thailand) in March 2016. I am currently working on my Master's degree in International Management.

Favorite movies: The "Evil Dead" series by Sam Raimi. Favorite musicians: Fugazi, Deerhoof, Thursday, Mos Def, Radiohead, Thrice, Johnny Cash, Blonde Redhead,and so on and so forth at random. Favorite books: "1984" by George Orwell, "Into the Wild" by John Krakauer, "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, "Leaving Atocha Station" by Ben Lerner, "Love and Obstacles" by Aleksander Hemon, and so on and so forth at random.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was once choked (nearly to unconsciousness) by a professional MMA figher - on purpose - to improve the lead for a magazine article I was writing.
