Overview
About Me
I am studying abroad in an liberal and arts college in Massachusetts, U.S. Before that I was born and raised in Fuzhou, a small city close to the sea in the southeast of China. I am entering my third year of college with a major in anthropology and music minor. I hope there is more exciting things to share, but all the excitement comes and goes, it never last long. No matter what is interesting and fun to share now is going to be different. So I do not really remember any that happened a while ago. For today, it is exciting for me to climb up the Vesuvius that once erupted, whose lava burried Pompéi.
(Updated 8.10.2019)
I am recently really interested in piano improvisation, and classics music. I studied a traditional Chinese instrument before, and I have always tried to combine the two. (12.17.2019)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people and make myself available for others to meet. At some point, I felt like we are all isolated individual in this world, which makes friendship especially precious. I have been traveling, moving to different places since I left my home a few years ago as a college student alone. I stayed in places for long or short. Most of the time the "lonely moment" creates a few weird dreaming moment, as if I was to just live in my own world and reflections, which terrifies me. Couchsurfing seems to provide a different possibility of traveling, a possibility of getting out of my own world. The moment when the others showed their hospitality and taking a stranger in to their space, they are not only providing a lodging place, but a trust and willingness to a connection.
Interests
I love to be in conversations, which are always like magic to me. Whether it is talking in my native or second language, words seems to me are special. Even if sometimes identical, when uttered by different people, they are different. I have strong interest to understand why that is the case and if it be the source of misunderstanding.
I also enjoy grasping different languages. For me, it is the way to be. To see how words are arranged in different language and being given different meanings are just fun for me.
