My name is Keyvan. I’m 29 years old and a PhD/Doctoral student from the US visiting Berlin June thru August. I'm currently working on my doctoral thesis and will be participating in some work related events in Berlin this summer, as well as doing research and writing. (I swear work is not the first thing I talk about when you see me in person!)

I’m arriving in Berlin on June 2 and scheduled to leave around August 20, so ultimately I'd like to rent a room in a shared flat for the duration of that time. While I look for such an arrangement, however, I'd like to couch surf a bit and meet people that might be able and willing to introduce me to the city beyond what I've already seen and also give me tips on how to best secure a rental.

A bit about myself: I'm very low maintenance. I've lived in Washington DC for now 4 years and during that time have lived exclusively with flatmates. I work mostly from home and coffeeshops, given that my work is heavily research- and writing- oriented and that I work on my own schedule. During the times that I work, I tend to put on my headphones and dissociate from my surroundings as much as possible; in other words I am pretty quiet during the day. In the evenings, though, I enjoy winding down with a drink or two, either at home or at nearby bars, and/or cooking with friends and flatmates. I neither smoke nor own a pet, but am comfortable living with people that do.

I like plants, tattoos, running, and Beyoncé. My primary language is English, but I also speak Farsi fluently, am trying to learn German, and can get around in very broken French and Arabic.
