Overview
About Me
I've spent too long putting off seeing the world. I'm selling all my things between now and August to leave home indefinitely, planning to finally land in Australia to settle there for a bit. In the meantime, I want to get as far through the following route as my savings will take me:
Japan -- Russia -- Central Asia -- South Asia -- Southeast Asia
Traveling solo and open to companions!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking to stretch my dollar, meet great people, and conduct some interviews everywhere I go as part of a broad-ranging art project.
I have a YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqjxQt_VeZYKncOZ_BB68Dw
I want to take the concept I've been working on there, and take it as many places as I can!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Rush, Atmosphere, The Tea Party, Queen, Metric, The Tragically Hip
Movies: Edgar Wright films, Christopher Nolan films, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Funny People
Books: "In The Realm Of Hungry Ghosts" by Gabor Maté, "Chasing The Scream" by Johann Hari, "How To Invent Everything" by Ryan North
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Reversed an overdose (more than once, actually) at work. Naloxone is a mind-blowing life-saver.
Teach, Learn, Share
Used to be an outdoor educator: (lapsed) certifications to instruct canoeing and cross-country skiing. Taught outdoor skills (fire starting, shelter building).
More recently, have been involved in festival harm-reduction communities, have taught harm-reduction principles to volunteer groups.
If you've got access to an ice surface, I'll teach you everything I know about hockey.
Want to learn languages! And if you think you can teach me an instrument, I welcome it. I am really bad at instruments.
Would also love to learn more solo-traveling skills.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Making meals, being an active and empathetic listener, the opportunity to collaborate in creative projects...
I will drop whatever I'm doing to help out with anything I can put myself to use for, or even just to go do something spontaneous and unplanned. Let's do something exciting!
