About Me

My name's Khalil from Algeria 🇩🇿
I grew up in "Timimoun" (southern state) as a kid then moved to Oran in 2008.
I completed high school in 2015, and later on, graduated from university. I'm currently looking for alternative jobs, I've worked before in education and customer service.
I'd characterize myself as someone very honest, humble, smiley, positive, serious, responsible, social, friendly, funny, peaceful, open-minded, understanding, and very patient (^_^)
In my leisure, I tend to spend my time on YouTube following international news, reading articles, watching documentaries, learning new languages, and making phone calls with foreigners. I don't go outside a lot, my town is very small and I don't have several friends here. I usually go downtown in Oran and walk around alone or hang out with a closer friend.
I love singing, meditating, gaming, and texting only occasionally. I like my life to be extremely organized. No sports activities in my program just yet xD but I so wanna learn to play tennis 🎾
Anyway, feel free to ask me anything else :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Surely because I do enjoy meeting and getting to know people out of my spectrum, there's always something new or different to discover from their perspectives on life and other diversed topics. It's fun, it's exciting! It's furthermore a way to practice the languages I've learned over the years.
I think it's essentially important to maintain at least one connection with somebody in each country or place around the world, you'll never know when you need'em as they needed you during their visit to your region.
I'm ready to assist outsiders with guidance, street direction, hosting, and so much more! I understand how tough a visitor might feel once finding him/herself lonely in any major city.

Interests

When it comes to meditation, I prefer doing it around sunset, sitting or walking someplace empty where I can connect solely with nature, and often playing slow music that can make me loosen up or reflect on my life and the universe around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite band at the moment is "Syd Matters" got to know them initially from one of my favorites games "Life Is Strange"
I am too much into calm music, chilly, relaxing, ...something like (Indie Folk Music, Country, or Bluegrass). I frequently listen to Pop and House music, mostly when I feel like dancing or going crazy lol
About movies, I used to like tons of horror and dark movies but later found myself seeing more sorta sad films, the kind that tackles real-life issues; something like "Capernaum", a Lebanese work.
I have so many books that haven't been touched since the last decade 😂 I never know for sure when I'm to read them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I could talk about a Ukrainian guy that later became incredibly close to me. He came first to Algeria for education purposes, but then COVID-19 came, and he couldn't go back to his country, so that's where I come :D
I hosted him in my house for so many months, sharing with him every little thing I have, taking him with me to my relatives' house, and introducing him to my friends. We built a strong friendship that remains coherent till today and hopefully, I'll meet him again.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well of course we're going to help each other, I teach you all about my culture and you do with yours.
My standard Arabic is terrific so I can offer that, the same goes for the Algerian dialect.
I can share with you my life experience and how things work here.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Anything that I can share! Rooms, food, even clothes.
