One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I lived in Mali, there were many moments that left me awestruck: but one of those moments was when there was a balophone dance where the village (of about 300) get together to dance and celebrate an event--this time happened to be for the death of the chief of the village---and the one light that was lighting the entire dance floor went out. Everyone stopped to try and fix the light, and then my neighbor and I looked up at the stars. We looked at each other and said, 'how beautiful', and the village paused and everyone took a moment to enjoy them.
The power of nature, community, and the love between them is powerful. You can feel it, everyday, but sometimes its can move you to another level of appreciation.

One of my best friends and I ran a 5k in Garmish, Germany near the Bavarian Alps-one of the most gorgeous views I've ever seen. This was a last minute decision to make the road trip down, but for good reason. It was for the Wounded Warrior Project, with special recognition to a dear friend who was KIA about a year ago (this description doesn't do justice, but for summary sake). Knowing I could be there with this friend as she won the race, and the emotional struggle and power of unchangeable circumstances and what it does--how it brings people together--- how it moves and motivates, will be something I never forget.
