About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To love others, always.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Biology student working on my Master's, which means I know more about wastewater and fish than I ever wanted to. My husband Chris is a graphic designer who mostly works for small start-up tech companies, which means he gets to wake up at noon every day and go to work in his pjs. Together we've paid a visit to Alaska to hike the Chilkoot Trail, driven across the country, and gotten married on top of a mountain without shoes on. We love canoe trips and photography and good scotch. We both love to travel - together, and sometimes alone - and meet people wherever we go.

PHILOSOPHY

Love everyone, and always be open to adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, I'm familiarizing myself with the site and hoping to surf and host a bit and meet some fantastic people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A wonderful trip to Washington, D.C., where we got the opportunity to visit a number of great folks, and a fantastic trip to the Azores, where we met some of the most hospitable people on the planet!

Interests

Zoology, the great outdoors, cedar-strip canoes, that campfire smell, absurdly expensive scotch, hacking the mainframe (poorly), climbing (less poorly), birding, identifying specific freshwater fish from Ontario, and brewing (with varied success rates!), to name a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Thirty years ago my father hiked the Chilkoot trail, a major route for hopeful prospectors from Alaska to BC during the Klondike gold rush. Last year I had the privilege of hiking it with him and my younger sister. The trail is one of the most incredible I've ever been on - there's a temperate rainforest, craggy highlands, and even a small desert - but the best part was getting to experience it with my Dad just as he had with his all those years ago.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn - Anything! I'm an avid learner and am always on the hunt for new skills, lessons, stories, and fun facts.

Teach - Want to learn to identify common Ontario birds, trees, or fish? I'm your gal. I'm always happy to take someone out for a walk in the woods and teach them as little or as much as they want to learn! I'll talk your ear off about my research and/or my adventures and misadventures learning to homebrew with very little prompting ;).
