ABOUT ME
I have yet to figure out how to write one of these without coming off like a bad "single and looking for" ad in the classifieds. Really, the best way I like to tell people about myself if by hanging out, maybe catching a cup of coffee, and then I can learn all about you too! But, since it's a little hard to share coffee online while you're reading this, I'll give you a few starting points. I really enjoy staying active, like swimming, snowboarding, hiking, running, and backpacking. I really enjoy sharing these activities with other people. On the other side, if you have a fun hobby and don't mind a total beginner tagging along, it would be fun for me to learn something new! I loooove love love to laugh, so if you have any good jokes, please share! I appreciate most all kinds of music (not a huge country fan, sorry folks) and am interested in everything from theatre and the arts to going out and having an awesome night on the town. However, I'm going to end this here, since I feel the cheesy-ness of this growing by the second. But I'm going to say I am a pretty Ok person, at least : ) and we should be friends.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't want my personal philosophy to sound too existential, but here we go- I like to understand the world around me, not just live it. I think that many people go through day to day activities and never stop to really consider what they are doing. There are so many options for us to choose in life and so many paths for us to take... much of the norms I adopted and embodied as my own, I realized weren't personal goals at all, but just aspirations that I thought I needed to follow. Make your own path. Laugh a lot and enjoy the ride. Be open minded. We only get one life, so we might as well make the most of it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
All the ways. I have both surfed and hosted people before, as well as just met up with people passing through town. I wold enjoy doing any of these things with you, too! We can go out at night, hang out during the day and go on an adventure, any anything in between.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
CouchSurfing opened a whole new world of traveling for me. I remember finding out about in when I was in Italy, sitting in a train cabin and randomly started talking to a man sitting across from me. He told me about this awesome way of seeing new places while meeting new people. My first time I was hosted, I felt welcomed into this new community that I didn't know existed. My host took me out to a couchsurfing get together that first night and showed me how this is more than just a free place to stay, but a way to learn, share, and be adopted into someone else's culture. My hope is that this program will continue to grow, allowing the world to better get to know each other, removing all of our wrong preconceived notions.

Music, Movies, and Books
As for music, I love anything rock (from soft rock to classical to some hard core stuff), singer/songwriters, indie, alternative, and even some pop and hip hop. I'll go ahead and say I'm not the biggest country fan, but I'm always up for listening to something new.
I am secretly a huge nerd, so when it comes to books, I feel as if I could just as easily say I am interested in "all books" and that would suffice. I've read quite a bit, so I don't think I could narrow it down to list what I like. Kurt Vonnegut and David Sedaris are two of my favorite authors, but I also enjoy everything from classics like "Brave New World," "Catch-22" and even "Lolita" to your bubblegum novels like Russell Brand's "My Booky Wooky" I'm always on the lookout for something else to read, so please send any and all suggestions my way!
Movies- as long as it's not scary, I am good. I just have way too overactive an imagination from scary movies. But I love comedies, documentaries, and those off-the-beaten-path movies that not everyone appreciates but I find really awesome.
Teach, Learn, Share
Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia once said the reward from traveling all comes from the journey, not the destination. "When you compromise the process, you're an asshole when you start and you're an asshole when you get back." True words spoken by a smart man.
