About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To make a lasting impression on this world and become the best person that I can.

ABOUT ME
Hi I'm Kiedis! For any of you wondering, I'm named after the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis and my local Starbucks knows me as John. I'm not good at describing myself so I'll keep it short. I love going to new places, meeting new people, riding my motorcycle, playing a few video games, partying hard and trying new things. I'm extremely easy going and want nothing more in life than to explore the world and be happy.

PHILOSOPHY
Everything happens for a reason. Even the worst things that happen to you during your time on this earth are just there to mould you into a better person.
Take everything as it comes and learn from every experience you have.
Life is all about making mistakes. With each and every mistake you make, you gain new perspective and knowledge - you grow as a person.
Every person in the world has something they can teach you. Although you will never get the opportunity to meet everyone, taking the time to learn from those you do will never not be beneficial.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing for two main reasons - one, because I'm not wealthy enough to stay in hotels and hostels as I travel and two, because I figure couchsurfing will probably be the very best way to experience the world. Staying in a hostel is great and all, but I really want to have meaningful experiences when I'm travelling. I want to see towns and cities the way that most tourists never will. I'm not travelling just to say that I've been to place "x" and seen exhibit "y". I'm travelling because I want to experience as much as I can in the short amount of time I have in this world, and I feel that staying with local people and being able to live like a local when staying somewhere new will really give me that opportunity.
When I host, it's all about giving back to the community that has given me so much. I also enjoy showing people my city and seeing it through the eyes of a newcomer again.

Interests

Food, adventure, meeting new people, and honestly anything that doesn't involve large spiders, my death or copious amounts of small talk. I'm down to try almost anything once!

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to really pinpoint a few. I can usually enjoy all music movies and books to an extent. Although, I do prefer hip hop/genX rock, thriller & sci-fi movies or any movie that really leaves you thinking at the end, and stories about adventure. Anything that falls under those categories I have a hard time not enjoying.

Currently getting back into reading as a hobby. Just started reading the Lord of the Rings in it's entirety.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycling through central Amsterdam at 5:30am on my way back from a techno rave
Meeting more people over the course of two months in Europe than I had in the two years prior
Surrounding myself with wonderful, likeminded people who support me like family

Teach, Learn, Share

Can make minute rice in 59 seconds, can teach you the perfect style and form for procrastinating in order to achieve absolutely nothing, I am knowledgable in the art of sandwich making - a skill that I have honed over many years of making shitty sandwiches, can teach you how to make some bomb ass french toast, how to get hundreds of matches on tinder, all the good stuff.

Would love to learn new languages and how to make some good food!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am willing to be extremely helpful and generous to whoever is kind enough to take me in. I have no problems with helping prepare meals, clean up after meals, share stories from back home or places I've been, and be extra respectful of your home. I'll even buy food during the day to prepare meals with that night if needed.
