About Me

ABOUT ME

This world is just unbelievable ! There is so much to discover, so much to be done, to have seen, heard, felt, ... I heavily suffer from l'embarras du choix, I cannot choose, so I float from this to that and that to this. All things cultural interest me a lot, almost anything in the artistic area fascinates me, I would love to be very intensely in touch with this world and all that lives on it, but I'm still trying to live with myself, so I've got a lot of work to do :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I said above : I dream of experiencing everything, everybody and all that, and for this purpose places like Couchsurfing and Hospitality Club come in handy. (At HC I can be found by the same user name as here : Kiejoom ). And of course I welcome everybody to come and couch my place, as long as you don't come all at once :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

(So fa)r so good !

Interests

I think I can divide my interests in two large sections : an ethical and an esthetical section, both of which I try to get along with each other, not as easy as it might seem. By 'ethical' I mean to say all that concerns making myself useful, try to do my best to make this world a better place, or a least not a worse place. 'Esthetical' on the other hand more has to do with my inner self and struggles, and searching for ways to express these, and often I come to notice that these phantasmorgians (I'm quite certain this is not the correct word, if even a word at all, but I can't think of anything else now :-)) clash with my more outward bound ideals. Hm, very confusing ... :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Morocco made me discover Paul Bowles, I liked him a lot a lot. And recently I got to know the not so well known Dutch writer Belcampo and I adore him !
Movies : Herzog-Kinski movies, Harvey (great great movie that pretty much nobody knows, from 1950 starring James Stewart and a huge invisible rabbit :-),
Los amantes del circulo polar, Atanarjuat - the fast runner, das Leben der Anderen, Abel, El cielo gira, Les enfants du paradis, L'enfant sauvage, Harold and Maude, Sans toit ni loi, ...
Music : a never ending exploration, involving so far klezmer, dub, many kinds of jazz, sufi, experimental rock, forró, balkan, electronical music, hector zazou, pascal comelade, ethiopiques, yma sumac, karen dalton, kevin coyne, cohen, cave, cash, classic, 'modern classic' ...
I'm fascinated by arts, modern arts, native arts, surrealism, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most of these things I'd rather not tell to everyone, I could maybe mention that I once bought myself peeled jellyfish, to my own astonishment, just in the supermarket around the corner ...

Teach, Learn, Share

I am on this world to learn. I don't consider myself a teacher.
