About Me
CURRENT MISSION
In Dunedin (NZ) - Planning to go travelling after my degree
ABOUT ME
Love meeting new people and getting to know about them over a drink. Hard working but always keen for having good times with friends!
PHILOSOPHY
Everyone has a field that they can be classed as intelligent in: And it doesn't have to be something academic.
You can do anything if you have the desire to learn how and the commitment to stick through that learning curve phase. And you should always be happy to share the knowledge you have, to help other people achieve this goal!
Until the origin of life debate has any practical application in day to day life, I'm happy to just say: "We're here and that's all that matters". Always interested in a good chat about philosophical things regardless!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Would love to meet people traveling through Dunedin, I don't have a couch to host with at the moment but I should next year!
Planning to travel around the world after I have earned enough money from my current job in a laboratory.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
An French intern student arrived in my lab for 2 months in June 2012. When I met her I never though how crazy the next 2 months would be! She introduced me to a really cool group of couchsurfers and they taught me about the idea of being a couchsurfer for the ideal of showing hospitality to people in your area. I really love this idea and can't wait to get involved more!
Interests
I'm a huge science nerd, but I won't let that bore you! When I'm not working in a laboratory I like chilling out to some music, maybe with a good cup of tea or glass of wine (How English I am!); while thinking about the next party I can go to! I like really like art and graphic design, but after 4 years of not practicing I'm afraid I'm not very good anymore!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I'm always keen to try new types of movies. I love renting movies that I've never heard of, like arts festival movies or something like that, and seeing what it's like. Probably would say I like all kinds of movies EXCEPT horror movies. Ok ok, I'm a wuss, K. Favorite movies; Pulp fiction, Trainspotting, Eurotrip, The Piano.
Music: I like music that evokes the emotions I want to feel at that point in time. So really I can enjoy any type of music if I'm in the right mood for. I specifically love the late 90's early 2000's era of trance music because it brings back good memories of going to Greece as a child. Favorite songs; Changes all the time!
Books: I'm going to admit doing a science degree has made me a terrible reader because after a day of reading scientific literature, the last thing I want to do is look at more words! I love reading fantasy novels, but like movies I can usually can get into anything. Favorite books; The Sight (by David Clement-Davies), The Black Magician trilogy (by Trudi Canavan), The His Dark Materials series (by Philip Pullman).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My first time going to Sandfly beach on the Otago Peninsula, NZ. It was a windy day and sand was flying up the dunes on the beach - and it looked like clouds rolling along the sand! No wonder they call it sandfly beach!
Visiting the Rotunda Church in Malta, amazing that a bomb dropped through the roof in WW2 (during a church service) - but didn't explode!
Teach, Learn, Share
Haha I'm not sure exactly what to put here!
Well most of the things I can teach currently come from my academic knowledge! If someone gets me talking about my science then they have to be careful because I might talk all night! I'm interested in how bacteria make energy, in fact how all living things make energy (although humans are more well studied than bacteria).
I'm also a little tech savvy, nothing to write home about I'm not a programmer haha.
I want to learn different languages but I haven't been able to afford classes and I'm a bit useless when I try to teach myself haha. Hopefully I can change this in future!
