About Me

Me and my spouse Elia are New Yorkers, currently traveling throughout the next year. We are splitting that time between South America and Europe. We have never lived far from home, so are taking the opportunity to spend a significant period of time away, staying for a few weeks or a month in each place to try and settle in, getting to know a place more intimately. When we can, we are volunteering in exchange for room and board, and have had some wonderful experiences thus far doing so!

We are curious and outgoing, and savor new experiences. We love to pore over maps and explore uncharted territories. But there are also things we love so much that we do them repeatedly, and always enjoy staying in with friends for a relaxing evening.

We love food, all food. Strong and contrasting flavors are a plus. Cooking at home is always fun, and going out is always a treat. We also love craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Cheers! What's better than treating your senses with good company!?

PHILOSOPHY

Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things - George Carlin

STRANGER! if you, passing, meet me, and desire to speak to me, why should you
not speak to me?
And why should I not speak to you? - Walt Whitman

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've now been apart of Couchsurfing for over a decade. I had a life-altering trip through Europe where I discovered and began Couchsurfing. It restored my trust in humanity. When I returned to New York, I did what I could to host as many people as possible, and trying to meet everyone else :) One summer, there were only a few nights where I was NOT hosting someone. I made very many great friends from all over the world that year.

Interests

Music (listening, watching, and performing), getting lost, finding my way back, being a pirate, eating new food, laughing 'til it hurts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drink homemade raki all night long at a Kazani in the mountains of Crete.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people about history (especially involving NYC, as I'm a historical tour guide there), urbanism (I got my masters degree in urban studies/planning), how to play your favorite song on the guitar. Elia can teach you how to crochet, and the choreography to your favorite dance songs. We would love to learn anything someone is willing to teach us! On our current trip, we have learned to work as line cooks and how to feed pigs and milk cows from our volunteer experiences on Workaway. But what we really love to do is share. We love sharing stories, experiences, food, beer, whatever.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can cook meals, wash dishes, bring beverages, and serenade you with music (I have a piccolo guitar with me)!
