About Me

I am an activist who loves people. Community building, exploring radical hospitality, youth, social justice, faith/interfaith/spirituality in all sorts of combinations is the focus of a lot of my life.

I work at a church as the office admin and children/youth/young adult person. I'm also the Ottawa chapter coordinator of the Student Christian Movement (a social justice movement of mostly-Christians www.scmcanada.org)

I love learning new things, coffee, I have a love/hate relationship with cell phones. I love conferences, because I love exploring new places, but I'm not a very good tourist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really enjoyed hosting couch surfers when I lived at Faith House, an interfaith intentional community of young adults (Awesome people! On Couchsurfing here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/4744062/profile I lived there from 2011-2013 and I still hang out with the folks there.)

Couchsurfing is a great community, and now that I am starting to travel around again to places I don't have community in, reconnecting to Couchsurfing just made sense.

Interests

Awesome discussion, spoken word poetry (watching! I will not recite poetry to you), teaching children to be critical thinking activists, music, stories. I don't do it much, but I really like playing cards and boardgames.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Labyrinth is my favourite childhood movie.

I love reading but don't really have favourite books. I will read anything Terry Pratchet. I loved Thomas King's Massey Lectures. Otherwise, I just borrow interesting things from friends' bookshelves.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmmm....I don't really have any heroic or daredevil stories for you, but the Canada World Youth Nova Scotia-Indonesia 6-month exchange was pretty freaking amazing. Definitely formative.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got pretty great facilitation skills, and some community organizing experience. I like to cook and bake--always looking to share recipes and learn new skills. I'm pretty crafty, but terrible with sewing. I can teach you how to weave Danish paper heart baskets. I love learning new things and sharing stories.

Countries I’ve Visited

Malaysia, Switzerland, United States
