About Me

Hi,

I'm Kiichi. I'm an open minded, friendly guy.

I'm a cross between Japanese and Australian, so from an early age have been exposed to a mix of cultures and ways of life.

It might be why I have become all-curious, always wanting to try new things, seeing new places, eating different foods, and meeting all sorts of people.

I'm always excited to have new experiences, making new friends and discovering all that is good in life :).

I like to share how other people experience the world and life, and enjoy sharing the experience, maybe while eating, drinking and listening to music.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people and hopefully become friends, see their take on life and their part of the world.

The culture and atmosphere when meeting people through couch surfing is very unique and exciting, and definitely brings out interesting experiences.

It's really awesome that people all around the world are open to inviting all sorts of people into their lives and homes!

It can be a risk sometimes, but the payoff is so worth it! Plus all the CSers I've met so far have been awesome people.

Interests

Travelling would have to be mentioned first, as I've been bitten bad by the travel bug, and am loving everything that comes with it. There's just too much to see and experience!

Next up is FOOD and cooking! I love both, and always enjoy being shown new techniques and dishes! I want to eat all the foods in the world!!!

I'm usually more inclined to being outdoors in the fresh air doing some hiking or other outdoor sports, however, I'm definitely addicted to watching a good film or tv series on a comfy couch with some munchies, or letting the inner nerd take over for a good sesh of video games.

I've had an interest in mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing, fishing and martial arts from early on, and plan to always do so. I love anything outdoors, so I'm always up to try something new.

In the recent years, I have begun regular yoga practice and also free-diving. I love yoga, and try to practice most days.

Can't say I'm a frequent club goer, and usually will opt for a slower, more relaxed environment like a pub before a club for socialising, but nonetheless, if I have the right motivation or music, I'm there.

Especially, I love listening to live music so will often find myself at a music festival or a gig when the opportunity arises.

I enjoy reading, usually fiction, fantasy or sci-fi novels, and am a big fan of Stephen King.
Lately, I've been wanting to expose myself to other genres of reading, so am making an effort to do so. If you have any books you think is 'must-read', let me know!

On another note, if you have pets, I will probably spend half my time playing with them :P.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just about everything.

Love some nice relaxing, chill-out music.

Especially enjoy reading Stephen King, currently working my way through Atlas Shrugged and really enjoying it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few highlights..

Getting fresh snow while snowboarding in Japan is definitely an amazing experience.

Taking an Andean Spectacled Bear for a walk through Bolivian rainforest everyday for a month, while volunteering at a wildlife rescue centre.

A spider monkey coming out of the trees, while Balu the bear was eating his lunch, and climbing on me to hug me for 15 minutes. Such an unexpected and awesome experience.

Hiking in Patagonia for several months and hitchhiking around Argentina and Chile.

And recently in 2019, I have thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, hiking for 5.5 months from Mexico to Canada.
