About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel all around the world! I know this is something everyone says and wants to do... but it would be truly awesome to ever do something like this!

ABOUT ME

I love traveling and getting to know different cultures. I'm pretty talkative and outgoing (as some of my friends say), and I just love engaging in conversations about any kind of topic, it still amazes how a certain thing can be seen totally differently depending on your first language, or the place where you grew up in.

I'm a huge language learner, too. I majored in English Literature and Linguistics, and I lived in England and the US for a couple of years. I'm fluent in both Spanish and English, and I can speak some German as well. Also, I took a couple of courses in Swahili and Turkish because I think they are super cool languages and you never know when knowing a bit of them might come in handy :)

I like going out, talking about music and tv shows, getting a coffee downtown with good friends, walking around town... I just love being outside doing anything. I'm a HUGE beer and coffee drinker, so I'm always down for a casual hangout at the local coffee shop/bar.

I'm currently working as a teacher at an English school in Cáceres, a small (but breathtakingly beautiful!) town in the South West of Spain. Teaching really is a lot of fun, and I wouldn't change it for anything in my life.

I'm also very interested in Linguistics and Foreign Language Acquisition, an area which I'm aiming at getting my PhD in.

PHILOSOPHY

One thing that usually gets on my nerves is the lack of patience that most people have in their daily life. Traveling teaches you how to put things in perspective. I'm a pretty relaxed person and never take things too seriously, not even school. I don't understand how a person can be stressed 24/7. What do you live for, then? Worrying about what will get you worried tomorrow?

I've missed buses, trains and connecting flights, I've turned in late papers, I even got stuck at an airport for three days and I still didn't care. It's just a new experience, and also decent icebreakers! :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is a great community! It allows to get to know locals from the cities you're visiting, and even stay with them! And I got the feeling that when you're couchsurfing a new city it makes the trip even more special. I've actually only couchsurfed in small towns and even if my own hosts said their cities were just okay, these are the ones which I have the best memories from!

Interests

Traveling, traveling, and traveling. Learning new languages, cultures and meeting people from all over the world.

Music, movies, books (I'm always reading!)...

Also, and most importantly, teaching. I could go on for some hours with my Spanish/English-teaching stories!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Interrailing in the UK for 10 days. Sleeping in trains is way more fun than I expected it to be.

Traveling Canada and the US East Coast during Winter Break in 2012. The budget was low, the weather was certaintly frightful, and not always did everything turn out okay, but the experiences I had during that whole month will for sure go with me for the rest of my life.

Spending Christmas and New Year's Eve in New York. Being in Times Square for 15 hours straight just to see a ball coming down at midnight might sound boring for most people, but I can truly admit that it's been the absolute BEST experience of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love cooking! Tortilla de patatas, anyone?

I'm also a teacher, so I'm always up for a Spanish or English class in any kind of setting. Your living room, a bar, a coffee shop or a bench in downtown.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United States
