Overview
About Me
I am a PhD student in political science, although I pretend to be as if in sociology. I work as a translator for various publishing houses. I translate mainly social sciences book from English and sometimes from French into Turkish.
I am from Ankara. But I used to live in Istanbul for the past 6 years. Since September 2014 I am living in Berlin as a visiting researcher in the Humboldt University.
If you are considering to send me a couchrequest, please keep in mind that I am not a party animal. My understanding of going out and having fun has always revolved around sitting somewhere with friends, having a couple of drinks and a long conversation. So I will not be able to help you about where is the best party in Istanbul. And I would prefer not to have guests who would come home 5 in the morning while I am sleeping, as Couch Surfing is more than free accomodation for me.
When I look for a host from CS, I tend to think that if I will be staying in a complete stranger's house, I would rather prefer that person to be interesting; someone I would like to meet in person and hang out with. So it would be nice if you take the same thing into consideration before you send me a couchrequest, because if I will accept you as a guest, this will also mean that I have spare time to hang out with you.
PHILOSOPHY
Hmm. I believe that feeling good is not about circumstances; it is something about how one relates to life, even if there is no single thing in one's life at that moment that renders him/her happy or satisfied. So something as simple as feeling good is actually quite political to me. I dont like depressed people. Dont be depressed. Feeling good is good.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love every opportunity which gives me the chance to get into contact with people. I am a huge fan of postcrossing, for example (www.postcrossing.com), as I think there is something very beatiful about having the opportunity to reach to a complete stranger, whom I did not know before that he/she existed, and to communicate with them with a couple of sentences. This is also one of the reasons CS appeals to me very much.
Interests
Photography. I am trying to 'educate' myself in taking them, I love looking at them. I even wrote a graduate thesis about them and writing another PhD thesis on them.
Postcards. I am amazed by them.
Drawings. (I think it would be enough to say anything visual)
Books. I have to read a lot because of school and of work. But novels are always my favourites.
Theatre. I am part of a group writing plays for theatre.
Sewing. I love many things involving craftsmanship. Sewing is one of them.
And travelling, for sure.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I always wanted to be one of those persons who can cook well. But I am not. I don't cook terrible, but I don't cook very well, either. However I can still share my "not cooking well" ability with the hosts who are open to new experiences :) Or else we can settle with me teaching you a couple of Turkish words and phrases.
