ABOUT ME

I consider myself open-minded and kind, but at first I may appear a bit shy. Though, after breaking the ice I become a chatterbox. Consider yourself warned!The last few years of university have been very demanding and now that my thesis is finished I realized I don't like my life all that much. Too much stress and work but not enough fun and meaningful experiences. I promised myself that from now on I will try and get the most out of life, seek experiences, travel and meet new people across the world. And try to develope myself towards the kind of person I really want to be.

PHILOSOPHY

You have to stay true to yourself and to what you want. Live the kind of life that you'll be able to look yourself in the mirror at the end of it.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I could host but as I live in a one bedroom appartment, you would have to share the room with me. I have an inflatable king size mattress that is very comfortable for two.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed on two couches during my first SC trip to Athens. Hopefully I'll surf more on my half a year stay in Greece.

Interests

I just love old board games and we have a semi-regular get-together with the girls. Some of the new ones are also good but my favourites are Marnon and the Warlock of the firetop mountain. I suck at Scrabble but in Carcassonne I can occasionally win.I like aquariums though currently I don't have space to have one. One day... My last aquarium was 840l.Sewing is one of my more serious hobbies. I haven't made anything in a while but I have all the machinery if I suddenly get inspired. I like pattern magazines and books and I have way too many of themKnitting is something I would like to be better at. I sometimes find it hard to understand what it says on the instructions. As an early graduation gift I got a Canon SRL camera. I'm excited about learning how to use it properly and take stunning pictures. Any advice on photography is welcome! I've taken a lot of pictures with a pocket camera but I've never put much thought into it. I try to do pilates regularly to avoid future back problems since I will most probably be a desk worker chained to a computer. Pilates if very effective but there are still a few things about the breathing that I don't understand. Hopefully I get the hang of it soon. What I would really like to (as a job) do is maps! I'm going to be a GIS specialist and I just love producing beautiful and easily readable maps. I fill with pride when I see the some of the thematic maps I have produced so far. Gives me a feeling that I'm on the right carreer path.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love my books. I have always wanted the same kind of library that was in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I mostly collect and read fantasy and sci-fi literature but also Kaari Utrio, Jane Austen and Joanne Harris are my favourites. My newest favourite is George R.R. Martin's A song of Ice and Fire. It was just mindblowing! Go Tyrion!I collect Disney DVDs and animation movies. I just love Finding Nemo, Up, Ice Age, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda (among others). Not forgetting the best Disney classics: Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, Aladdin, Pocahontas and Mulan. I was brainwashed by Disney at a young age.My favourite non-animated movies are V for Vendetta, Star Trek, The Illusionist, Casino Royale, Batman Begings. I do also like drama and comedy movies. Pride and Prejudice series with Colin Firth is... amazing! And I very much enjoyed Stranger than fiction and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.Favourite tv-series: The Closer, ANTM, Project Runway, Big Bang Theory, NCIS, Game of ThronesNear and dear to my heart are also Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5. Especially Londo and G'Kar make me laugh. And watching Apollo in that snug shirt of his makes my socks spin.I like all kinds of music. Almost anything goes. Jenni Vartiainen, Chisu, Juha Tapio, Zen Cafe, Nightwish, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Amy MacDonald, Bruno Mars, Hurts, James Blunt... I also like to play with a computer. I like Civilization -type world building games: Civ 4 and Caesar 4 I play regularly. RPGs are also good. Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, Mass Effect

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a year in New Zealand as an exchange student. Also the interrail trip to England, Scotland and Ireland with my friends was one of the top 5 things in my life.One of my dreams is to be at Conan O'brien's tv-taping and meet the man. His shit is hilarious!
