About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Hobbies. Not Hobbits, hobbies.
ABOUT ME
I'm kinda tall and lanky, and no I don't play basketball. I like being outdoors, and I like to travel and be dirty, just so long as I know I have a place to go back to and rest. Really I'm up for anything, as it is my personal mission to experience as much as possible in my short and uncertain time. Since I've been stationary lately I've taken to urban exploration of my fair city. I like to read and I don't like to be stagnant. I enjoy entertainment, but I can't spend much time simply being entertained before I get restless and feel I need to go do something either creative, to better myself, or to better others. I spend a lot of time alone, but I absolutely love people. Right now I love working with my hands and building things. I've learned a lot on the construction side of life. Biking is my crux.
PHILOSOPHY
I live to experience. Yet I've learned that experience is nothing without the people that share them with you and bring them to you. Therefore my philosophy has shaped up around people, they are my final frontier. I also recognize the great contribution of struggle to an individual's life. Without struggle we have no meaning and no merit.
Hmm. Really my philosophy is to hang out with people and try to figure out what the hell I should be doing. Oh yeah, and smile a lot.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to get to know people in the city I'm in, and couch surfing is a great way to do that. I hit up the meet ups, surf with people, and try to make up for my taking by hosting like mad anytime I find myself able.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have not had a single bad experience. I used couch surfing to get around Europe & the western US, and everyone I met was very accommodating, very accessible, and very happy to host. Everyone I've hosted has left their little mark in my memory, and I wouldn't erase them if I could. Couch surfing is like a huge party with forced intimacy. I love it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Sci-Fi because it's the best genre to get a point across. Plus it's fun to read and space has been impressed upon me since I was a little boy. However, non-fiction is where it's at. Biographies, science and social sciences. Plus I try to read the classics on my own, to round out my 'education.'
Generally I like films that have a point behind them. Something past special effects. If I don't come away from a movie thinking about something in it, I feel like I wasted my time. That is, unless the movie is Snakes on a Plane or some sort of martial arts. Everyone's got vices, right? Gratuitous action is my bane. Netflix is my hero.
Music - The White Stripes, Gorillaz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Toadies, Sublime, M.I.A., Johnny Cash, Casey Reid, Nirvana, Beck, Meatloaf, Fatboy Slim, Nelly, The Rolling Stones, Old Crow Medicine Show etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I watched bighorn sheep butting heads in the upper sandstone layer of the Grand Canyon.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've found that life is a balance between strife towards dreams, and content engagement in current circumstances. Never stop dreaming and reaching, but don't forget to look around along the way.
Pay attention.
