After a run along Easter Island, I sat in a field of grass and watched the sunset over the Ahu. This was truly one of the most beautiful, and magical experiences I've ever had. There were quite a few other people sitting alone watching the sunset; the solidarity, silence, and quiet appreciation for the historical nature of these monuments was quite striking.
