Overview
About Me
I've had a different life than most of my friends. I had kids kind of early and moved away from Austin in my twenties to Lawrence, a small college town in Kansas. After growing up in the middle of Austin, I wanted to be somewhere quiet and boring for a while, as I raised my kids. Mission Complete! Living in Lawrence has taught me the value of community. Being in relationship here means being surrounded by people you can count on and trust, like family. There's so much farming here, as well, that a lot of emphasis is put on gardening and food. For instance, I share a rotation with three other people, we take turns driving to the country to pick up raw milk for our families. I also became a certified yoga teacher here and the experience was very spiritual, very grounding. My teacher was a Krishna devotee so I learned much about the culture of Hinduism, the rituals and practices. Crazy to have found such a huge spiritual community in a place like Kansas, but it definitely exists here.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As much as I love Lawrence and am grateful for the time I've spent here, my passion is for spiritual development and alternative health/medicine. Austin is such a hub for all of this and I'm ready to be immersed back into the beautiful healing energy of Austin. I'm coming back for six months to complete a massage therapy program at Lauterstein-Conway and leaving my husband and three kids in Lawrence while I'm gone. Once I'm finished we will all move back to Austin. I have friends and family I will be staying with while I'm in town, but since I'll be there for six months, I need alternative places to stay and I'm eager to meet new people!
