About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Sight seeing is great, but getting to know the people of the area is even better. I like meeting strangers whether it's for a glimpse or an adventure if the bill fits. I’m sentimental, intentional, and a bit estranged. I’ve encountered a handful of oddities and it only made me more curious and understanding and accepting of others.
Although I do have low tolerance for those lacking self awareness as I get older. I can be a bit up front if I’m not a fan of something.
Wanna go learn more about native plants and animals together?
ABOUT ME
Vietnamese American immigrant. Occasional why not and yes we can attitude. All the feels kind of person. Cerebral, observant, fair, respectful, curious but not over bearing. Brave and sensitive. I'm ready to accompany you on a mission or go to a thrift store. I‘m more interested in what you learned about yourself from a place rather than you show casing a laundry list of places you’ve been.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to have at minimum two data points before making an assessment on most things.
Progressives have been persecuted for centuries, yet we all ride the waves they make.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can host, but I'm selective. If the vibe isn't right then it isn't right. Will host between 1-3 days max. I do have two great roommates who generally keep to themselves upstairs. Nice guest room in the den, shared bathroom with others. I have bikes and a paddleboard and maybe some extra backpacking gear you can borrow. If the energy is right, we can go on an adventure together. Otherwise, I'll just be a referencing and gear source.
If I couch surf:
I like to help prep dinner, learn a few phrases, and exchanges stories and perspectives. I really just want to get to know people without being intrusive and still respect the person's space, so be as you are. We literally helped a guy do his yard work once while he was at work. We also helped another person rearrange their furniture
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Missed the bus at night in Palestine, met some kids and their parents with Google translate, and became friends for life. The kids have kids now.
Interests
The whole be outside thing. Backpacking, hiking, paddleboarding, bike riding, cold plunges and hot soaks, mushrooms, foraging, growing your own food etc...
Will have interest for peer reviewed studies on food, skincare, and liberation for the people.

Music, Movies, and Books
City of Gods, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Y Tu Mama,
"For the Love of Men" by Liz Plank, sometimes its poetry by Khalil Gibran, I’ve cried reading the comic book about Vietnamese refugees called "The Best We Can"
Music: anything that vibes but it can go from Fleetwood Mac to Sect to Anything from my Modern Psychedelia playlist on Spotify.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- used YouTube university to change the shoes and drums on my own car brakes
- really good at pretending to be a functioning adult
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn more machine shop skills and cooking. I have tried making tahdig(Persian crunchy rice) 8 times now and failed every single time.
I can share:
My own home on Whidbey Island, Washington. It's quite a magical place in Washington state. Take my bike, motorcycle, paddle board, or we can go touring on my tandem kayak.
Outdoor gear, travel tips, a meal, active stretches, a picnic, cooking skills, a good attitude when mistakes are made
What I Can Share with Hosts
A meal on me as a thank you. Or I can help with chores during my short stay- I like doing other people's chores but can't seem to find the joy in doing my own.
I usually try to bring over gifts to my hosts because my mother taught me to never come over to anyone's house empty handed.
