Hi, I'm Kim. I'm 33 and live in London. In 2010 I quit my job and started travelling. I've been travelling on and off ever since. I recently completed a degree in Social Work and am now on a new adventure travelling Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, travelling is so much more than just visiting Trip Advisors Top 10 Things to Do and eating at lonely planet recommended restaurants. An anthropologist at heart, I want to learn about the different cultures within a country; to learn its history, its achievements, the religions, the politics and conflicts, the beliefs and superstitions, to eat the local food, listen to traditional and current music, and to just generally experience local life.

No-one knows a country like locals do! I love that couchsurfing provides the opportunity to spend quality time with people and to truly get to know a place. I've had such amazing experiences with my hosts and learned so much from them while surfing. CS has really enriched my time travelling as well as given me some what I am sure are life-long friends.

Unfortunately as I am rarely in the UK I do not have a home to except surfers into right now. But I am looking forward to when I have somewhere I am invite surfers and return all the overwhelming hospitality I have received.

Interests

Travelling is my biggest passion, in part because I really love people. I love how different individuals, families, and communities are across the globe and yet despite these differences, we are also all the same. I'm passionate about equality and community development and am always interested to learn how different counties are approaching these.

I love being in nature and hiking. I have a good sense of humour and being English, I love sarcasm and teasing people. I believe that when we die that is it, so I try to live my life to the absolute fullest.

I am passionate about equality and believe in community education and development. I'm keen to get involved with some projects along my travels. I'm hoping to use/share the skills and knowledge which I have gained through social work in some way or another and to build on these further.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I always read potential host's profiles in their entirety including the references (particularly those written by solo females since a horrible experience I had in April 2018). I will only request to stay with you if I think we will genuinely get along and enjoy each others company.

I only ever send out one, or an absolute maximum of two, hosting requests at once as I don't believe in blanket messaging hosts hoping for the quickest response.

I'm really greatful to hosts for opening up their homes to me and for giving me their time. I will treat your home better than if it was my own. In addition I am:
- Honest and trustworthy.
- Open and non-judgemental.
- Good company and can talk and listen for hours.
- can give hundreds of travel tips
- Happy to help with some chores!
- I'm always willing to try new things and get 100% involved. Except Kareoke. Trust me, it's for the best. You do not want me to sing... your ears will bleed 😂
