Overview
About Me
I am Kim. I am married to Ric. We have three kids. We also have foster kids, so we cannot currently host unless you want to camp on our property. It is about a mile from our home. We like to travel and hear about the travels of others. We like to dream big and help others when we can.
Sometimes couch surfing requests go to my spam, but I have never had that happen with Warm Showers. I don't mind being contacted on there (even if you aren't a cyclist). They do not go to my spam.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have always been obsessed with traveling since I was little. Now that I am older, I am still obsessed. I find myself getting excited knowing I will be getting to host someone just because I know it brings such an awesome new experience. I get even more excited when I travel. It is so relaxing and free. It is the closest thing to true organized chaos. I also think "others" are a scary thing for people that haven't met someone else. I want to raise my children to know that it is ok if someone looks different, sounds different, or has a different point of view than my family. What better way to do that than having the opportunity to meet new people.
Interests
I love the creative process. We recently have decided to start making things fit us instead of having us work towards the functionality of the thing. Like instead of a dining room, we now have an art studio. The kids have been wanting to paint pallets, so we made a pallet fence.
I am learning to be calmer and meditate more. I am thankful for every opportunity life gives me. I like to describe myself as an open-minded Christian living in the Deep South. My faith is just as important to me as respecting the faith of others is. SometimesI feel like a lotus , sometimes I feel like a momma bear, and sometimes I just feel like me.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music=Weezer, Moldy Peaches, Modest Mouse, most 90s indy rock
Movie= I am a big Wes Anderson fan. My family celebrates "Wesmas"
Books=I've been into Brene Brown, Rachel Hollis and that entire self help stuff lately.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I picked up my family to move to the state with the greatest need for foster care help after my husband and I heard a radio article about the need in Mississippi.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach--my husband and I are both teachers. It's more than a living for us. It is a way of life.
Learn--I try to be a forever learner.
Share--I love sharing my home with travelers. Through warmshowers and couchsurfing we've hosted about 100 people so far.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am not the best at picking up subtle common sense hints, so I can help with anything. Sometimes I just need to be directed. I can cook, clean, babysit, or share stories.
Countries I’ve Visited
Barbados, Jamaica, Mexico
