ABOUT ME

I didn't know what to write here so I asked my best friend, and according to him I am: friendly, bubbly, instinctual (?), creative, caring and passionate about my job. Actually, to be honest, he used the word "workaholic" (not passionate) but I felt like that was a bit strong and made me sound kind of boring, so I edited a little bit ;) I'd also like to think that I am an adventurous and fairly fearless person, always keen to visit new places and cram as many amazing experiences into my life as possible. Some of my best experiences so far have been trekking in the Himalayas, paragliding in the Alps, and living and working in Nepal, India and Thailand. I really enjoy hosting and showing people around too. I love meeting new people and learning about them and their culture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

People who have hosted me:
1. Ozgun and Pascal (Cologne, Germany)
2. David Oertel (Boppard, Germany)
3. Laura Heim (Triberg, Germany)
4. Barthold Maier (Konstanz, Germany)
5. Michael Schweiger (Fussen, Germany)
6. Martina Bernhofer (Salzburg, Austria)

People who have surfed with me:
1. Karina Langelund (from Denmark)
2. Yuehua Kwan (Singapore)
3. Vani Rajendran and Ben (USA/Germany)

Why I love couch surfing:
I'm the kind of person who wants to cram as many new and amazing experiences into every day of my holidays as possible, so I tend to do a lot of inter-railing. I'm on a limited budget, so I used to stay in youth hostels, but I always kind of hated them - not in a physical/practical sense (I've got nothing against roughing it), just the general feel of them. The only real benefit to youth hostels was that, if I was lucky, I'd meet nice, like-minded people to see the sights or hang out with, but even then you are only hanging out with other tourists. How much better to stay with local people – friendly, generous people who actually want you to stay with them, who might even show you round and go out with you in the evening. Just like going to visit an old friend who happens to have moved somewhere really interesting... It's not about money. If I could afford a five star hotel I still don't think I would want to travel any other way. This is the best way to travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies...
I LOVE watching movies and going to the cinema. I have pretty eclectic taste and tend to enjoy films of any genre, except for horror (what is with that anyway?). Some of my favs include: The Fifth Element, Up, Die Hard, Pursuit of Happiness, Star Trek, Meet the Fockers, The Lion King, Painted Veil, Slumdog Millionaire, Pride and Prejudice...

Music...
My taste in music seems to be constantly evolving, and I find myself really hating music I used to love a year ago. I like to start my day with music, and have a playlist I listen to while getting ready and cycling to work in the morning. Right now it features: Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Coheed and Cambria, Gnarls Barkley, Paul Weller, Fleetwood Mac, Adele, Sixto Avyar and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
