About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet new people and help them get the best out of our city
ABOUT ME
We are two fairly chilled out people who love all the best parts of life - music, food (cooking AND eating), having a drink or two and scrabble. Sometimes anyway.
We are non-smoking, dog-loving, cat-tolerating people who are either travelling or travelling vicariously through our couchsurfing guests.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting: We find it difficult to say no when we've had such good experiences with everyone we've hosted and met. We love showing them the best of our city, or at least pointing them in the direction of things we think they'd like.
Surfing: We know what the guidebook says (well usually we do), now we want to know what YOU think and love about your area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Nick met some Couch Surfers in China who swore by the service and I figured this was the way to go. Kim met a guy on a train in India, and was prevented from attending his wedding only by the cruel malice of visa officials.
Since then, all the couchsurfers we have hosted have been fantastic, especially when they are keen to find out all about our city.
Travelling through Europe in June-August 2009 was made so so so much better by couchsurfing!
Interests
Nick - eating Kim's always-delicious cooking, relaxing with music, playing "music" (drums), football (soccer), and of course, a beer or two.
Kim - experimenting in the kitchen, eating the experiments, red wine, bollywood dancing (or to NEARLY any other type of music), camping, reading constantly, fabulous landscapes, attempting other languages badly, lounging at the beach.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nick says he once ate a cheeseburger with 2 pickles in it. And while that was pretty amazing, there's also:
Camping in the Thar Desert in India, swimming with kangaroos on the beach 2hrs north of our home, eating fresh prawn and pineapple curry while watching the sun set in Malaysia, cooking Tom Kha Gai on the beach in Thailand, seeing the Australian bush recover after bushfire, cruising up the Mekong Delta, watching the Chinese Lantern Festival fireworks as I landed in Beijing. 2 weeks after getting married, moving to Germany without knowing the language, any people, or how we were going to live. And we don't regret it for one second!
Teach, Learn, Share
We realised that despite our combined world travels covering dozens of countries, we've seen very little of our own country - even things only a couple of hours away. We'd love to see more by going camping more often and it would be nice to share this with a couchsurfer too. If you're interested, let us know. Since we both work during the week, and our weekends seemingly get filled up very quickly, give us plenty of warning and hopefully we can spend a couple of nights out watching the bush telly (fire).
