About Me

We’re on the road for 2019, travelling Australia in a tent with the kids and then spending six months in Asia. It’s already an incredible experience.

Explore the world and my interior. Show my kids that we have an amazing and incredible opportunity to live on this planet. Be good to one another.
ABOUT ME

jazz, music, music-making, cooking, fermenting stuff (from kombucha to sourdough), social justice, home birth, lid cycles, yoga, animals and plants, Japanese culture, eating out, travel, , laughter, conversation, being silly.

We have three awesome small humans, 2 boys and a wee lass. We're eclectic homeschoolers with a love of adventure!

We love exploring the world, and dreaming of our next trip.

We welcome other travellers with children and would love to meet others who share an interest in democratic child-rearing. We also welcome singletons, as long as you don't mind conversation with free-range kidlets!

PHILOSOPHY

Life moves pretty fast -- if you don`t stop and look around once in a while -- you could miss it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host and be hosted. I donate when I can, I promote via word of mouth.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have hosted and been hosted to and by many. We've met a myriad of amazing people, from French photographers to Hungarian astro-physicists, eaten with self sufficient French wool spinners and Italian art historians.

Couch surfing has enriched our lives SO MUCH!

Interests

My husband and I are musicians of the jazz variety, and have an interest in cooking, sightseeing, social justice, bike-riding, art, and good sake!

Music, Movies, and Books

Lotsa jazz - Anita O`Day, Pat Martino, Keith Jarrett, Bill Frisell, Mel Torme, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan,Bobby McFerrin, Betty Carter, Chris Connor, The Bad Plus, Wes Montgomery, Steve Reich...lotsa soul - James Brown, Donny Hathaway, D`Angelo, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Marvin Gaye, Larry Graham...lotsa other stuff too - Ella Mae Morse, Ella Johnson, Feist, Mum, tons more!

Films -- we love Bill Murray and whimisical comedy, odd art-house stuff and a dose of the plain strange (Gummo, John Waters films, Russ Meyer)

Books - I am completely in love with Charles Bukowski, which is pretty weird I know! Other recent favs include anytrhing by Jonathon Safran Foer, the Curious incident of the dog in the nighttime, Vernon God Little, a dash of Voltaire, Death and the Penguin. Both my husband and i loathe Michele Houellebecq, so if you love him, don't mention it to us!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While camping, heard the call to prayer at 4.30am echoing off the ruins of Persepolis in Iran from far away over the desert plain
